I was driving my grandsons 2001 tacoma, and it shut down at the stop light one time only. I kept trying to repeat, but only happened once. Any ideas?

I've only worked on heavy equipment, so not totally familiar with tacoma issues.

    Is the vehicle all stock?

I used to have a Dodge with a bangin stereo that would draw so many amps it would shut the motor down at stop lights unless I was in neutral lol.

Dirty throttle body and/or sticky/dirty Idle Air Control Valve would be my suspects, just be aware some 1st gens had throttle body wear issues and cleaning it could cause a high idle issue if it is worn.
