    Tacoma slider steps

I want to keep this 2021 TRD OffRoad "mostly-stock" but my 4'11" wife has difficulty getting in and out and now I'm thinking about steps. I don't expect to be in a position to need sliders but it could be a real possibility in the future. (Of course, if I need them ONCE, they are worth it.)

Here my thoughts on what I think I want:

A wide enough platform to have a confident step for "the girl" but not so wide that it's in my way when I don't use the step.

No rubber to get slippery when wet.

Some way for the ice and snow to be easily shed from the platform to get a no-slip feel after snowy or icy weather but no gnarly teeth or huge drain holes either so our special-needs dog can use it, too.

No way for a foot to slip under the body to get hurt.

I CAN'T HARDLY FIND A SITE WITH GOOD PICS of them installed on the vehicle and with the step tread.

Since shipping is soo expensive, how about some made somewhere in Arizona? Flagstaff? Or maybe Albuquerque? MANY of these fabricators' websites say nothing initially about where they are located!

I understand that installation can be difficult, especially if quality control is not quite up to snuff, but I'm NOT drilling holes in or welding to my frame.

How about all that?! Thoughts, anyone?

Well hopefully there's enough research and realize he's going to have to drill a couple holes no matter what. Maybe not for a rock guard.
    Just put predators on it

I don’t have them yet but I opted for the Cali Raised step sliders with the inserts. I think they meet your requirements.

    A bunch..and no build thread!
If you're not going to off road, why not just get the predator steps?

If you were closer I would give you mine..lol. Waiting for my Avid rock sliders.

pretty much whatever you get will be in the way.
had them on my 2nd gen, just for looks to cover up the unfinished area. stand on them and you are way too high to get in the truck, good for washing the top of the truck. now for you wife will work great but they will be in the way when you get in the truck. IMO

    Tip:
2'nd generation OEM steps fit 3'rd generation Tacomas, even though Toyota says they won't. Bolt right up without any drilling.
    Reasonably priced on Amazon. F97272CB-898B-4441-8EE7-71B2174AA799.jpg

My sliders require 2 drilled holes per side. All the rest are existing holes. If you needed to take the truck in for warranty, I can almost 100% surely say that the dealership wouldn’t even know the new holes weren’t there before lol.

And they can’t void warranty to any powertrain or electronics or pretty much anything else for that matter for a couple drilled holes

Look up the Magnuson Moss Act. A dealership can’t void a warranty because of a modification unless said modification was in direct correlation to the failure of whatever part is being brought in for warranty.

OEM Predator steps are cheap on here and craigslist. If you do bash up a predator step they are cheap enough that you can just replace with another used set.

Look in the Az section of the forum. There is a guy I can’t remember his name but can help make exactly what you want. He is local to flagstaff as well.

Looked and looked but can't find them. Maybe vanished or my searches were flawed. I guess that means not local and about $800-900 minimum. (Up to about $1300 for CalRaised.)

As said previously, any slider that’s large enough to step on is going to be in the way if you don’t want to use it. I had a pair of custom sliders made and I was very particular about the extension. They are *just* big enough to stand on with your toes tucked up against the rocker panel. And I can *just* get in and out without dragging my slacks on them. My wife… not so much. She’s keeps a really clean spot on them on her side from where she rubs against them getting in and out.

I’ve considered moving down to simple rock rails. In short, you can get some custom work done but in the end it may not fit the criteria; i.e. the two needs may not be compatible. And it’ll be expensive!

Avid Offroad is somewhat local. They are located in Queen Creek. Just put our order in for bolt on the frame rock sliders. Get a discount using the TW code. Bring the truck for local pick up and they will install for free.
