In less than 4 years my truck will be eligible for a classic plate here in PA, which means it'll be exempt from emissions testing, but apparently I have to own more than one vehicle in order to register one of them as a classic...

It's a 2003, right? Anything 15 years or older is considered a classic in PA!

That would make a more convincing Zombie Outbreak Response Vehicle than my truck!

i had to have 4 door so 01-02 is what i was looking for. didn't want 03/04 because of fly by wire and the worse location of the rear ebrake cable.

not a fan of 98-00 at all. 95-97 front end looks great though.

Yep, it may be 25 years old but I think of her as a new vehicle!

I personally hate the vertical slat front ends. Much prefer my 99's. The 97s are better looking though

I'm in the 95.5 - 97 fan club although I have a '98 Taco. I wonder how hard (or even feasible?) it is to swap the grill from a '98 to a '97? (I realize the headlights would change too.) Anyhow, my brush guard is functional, but also disguises that front grill a bit:

95-97 are my favorite. I like the 98-00 front ends because it's not far off from the MK1 front ends. Boxy and and more "truck like" for the era. I really don't like the the slant eye look of the 01 and up, looks feminine. At the time a lot of manufacturers used the "hummer wanna-be" vertical grills to make their vehicles look more aggressive, the grill didn't appeal to me at all. But that's just my opinion.

I never really paid attention to the vertical grille thing, but a couple have pointed it out so I think that's probably a notable difference. I just dislike how the 01-04 front end is virtually unidentifiable in a rear view against a f150 from the time period.

I much prefer the whale mouth of the 95.5-97. But I love my double cab. So…….

my favorite is the '95... Maybe 96/97?

I am biased, but I prefer the "regular" headlights and grill layout... Last year I inherited my brothers '95 (4 cyl/5-speed 4WD, ext cab). He was the original owner, so lots of memories. A double cab would have been nice... I hate the look of the 98+ headlights, especially the 4X4s...

Mine's a 4x4, but for me, a pre-runner would have been fine (I know they didn't make a PR in 95). Not sure how often I'll actually use 4WD, but I like the look. I recently replaced the 31-10.5 tires, and went with an aggressive tire, but because I preferred the looks.

I am fortunate being in California, because I can ask "what frame rust?"...

I own a 97 and a 95 and an 01, I love the first iteration of the taco face, 98-2000 was meh, 01-04 looked like every other cars lights, the 95-97 looks so good and aggressive. I live in Ca , los angeles to be exact….whats rust?
