Usually, I adhere to a strict rule of only posting Taco pics that I take, but sometimes I come across one online that's so good I just have to share it!

Hi, sorry for the late reply, I hardly ever visit the site. I have roughly 65 hrs tied up in swapping mine (includes the time of dismantling donor truck). It is not a bolt in swap, the engine mount pedestals have to be cut from the donor frame and welded in place of the 4 cyl mounts. There is a lot more that goes into it when you're doing the 4wd coversion as I did. It looks like you already have a 4wd, so there wouldn't be as much work that goes into it as mine did. Everything will work properly except the vsc. The 4 cyl ABS unit isn't compatible with the v6 engine's ecu, therefore you have to use the unit from the v6. So in using the unit from the v6, the ABS, trac, vsc, ect will work but due to the difference in wheelbase, the wheel-speed, steering angle, and yaw rate sensor inputs cause the truck to think it is in a skid and will engage vsc earlier than necessary. This isn't such a big issue because I can manually turn it off before driving. Otherwise it runs and drives like it was meant to be there from the factory. To answer your initial question, If you brought me your truck and a running donor truck, I'd do the V6 swap on an existing 4x4 truck for $2500, If I'm converting a 2wd prerunner to V6 and 4wd, I'd charge $3500 (2wd-4wd conversion will require a rc 4wd driveshaft in addition to the donor truck). If you're interested, message me on fb to discuss it further. BTW I'm located in Birmingham, Al and I'm a Toyota Certified Master tech with 16 years experience.

If you'd like to come visit and check out my truck you're welcome to. It'd give you a good idea of what to expect yours to be like.

    I'll have everything!

I'm hoping by the time my engine dies, I'll have enough confidence, experience and some possible schooling to be able to do it on my own.

I'm going to be attempting to v8 swap my ranger this year and I'm using the winter to gather the odds and ends I'm going to need.

it's fairly easy swap, but I just started learning to do my own work on my vehicles this last year, but I'm confident I'll get it done
