    One thing you are going to notice is that quite a few of the pictures don't have locations. This is because I wasn't paying attention to exactly where we were while on the highway. This 2012 RC with T4R wheels was one of those vehicles...

    And not originally a California truck from what I can tell...

    With the exception of a couple sparsely populated counties, all vehicles 1976 and newer registered in California have to get a smog test every two years. I don't know how long this has been the case, but for well over a decade, vehicles purchased new in California are exempt from smog check for the first eight years after purchase. If the vehicle is sold to somebody outside the original owner's family when it is four years old or older, it has to get tested. This '07 Tacoma was tested for the first time in July 2022, which indicates that it was probably sold new elsewhere.
