I bought my taco new from Stapp through the costco auto program. I actually got a really good deal on it for the market, good thing I didn't go used lol.

Agree, but imo limited timeframe on used selling above MSRP and dealers adding market adjustments to new vehicles. If not the market leveling things out it will be the manufacturers cutting the dealer out and going direct to customers at MSRP, or the big 4-5 are going to lose customers to the new wave makers.

Yeah, they’re prices were usually reasonable but when they add all the bullshit through the custom shop, it’s absurd. They create these packages that tack an extra $25K on the truck. But I suppose they sell, so it’s good for them.

I’ve seen numerous 1st gen Tacomas priced this high or higher. Newest one of those is about 18 years old.

I agree, this level of price gouging should be shunned by all until prices are forced in a more realistic direction. Society as a whole is to blame for this absurdity.

Local dealer had a $7K market adjustment on a 4Runner Pro (lime green though - ugh).

Everything I’ve read though about impending stagflation is definitely going to change the playing field.

I suspect Tacoma (and other mid size trucks) are going to retain value relative to other vehicles because some folks do need a truck and putting $6 per gallon gas in a full size is going to hurt.

Gas can come down, it's been up to $4-$5 a gal during 2011-2014 and under $1.78 May, 2020, so it IS possible.

I had luck talking to small-town dealers who were upfront that they wouldn't/couldn't/ do dealer markups or they'd lose the faith of the community. Ended up getting a 2019 TRD-Offroad DCLB for $43k, with 15k mileage from Grant's Pass in Oregon, in a hard to find color. Local dealer was selling 2022 for about $45-46k, but also a 2019 DCSB for $45k. Wild times but worth looking across the whole country!

That's about $60k USD... still crazy overpriced. But perhaps they don't have domestic manufacturing and have to pay import tariffs from the States? Bonkers

I agree that it's possible, but likely several years away.

Dealer near me had a 2021 TRD Pro with 19k miles for $55k, a week later it was gone. I'm going in for service next week, going to ask my sales guy what they sold it for, probably low 50s's to asking price.
