I believe that all 3rd Gen 4x4s except the TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, and TRD PRO have a chrome 4x4 emblem on the lower left corner of the tailgate. This leads me to believe that this 2017 DCSB SR5 is a 2WD. What does everybody else think? In my experience, 2WD 3rd Gens are not particularly common once you get past the Virginia Beach area; I don't feel like running a full Carfax report because I only have two left...

2019 DCLB SR5; I believe that this one is a 2WD as well, due to the lack of 4x4 emblem on the tailgate...

With my limited experience with these things.. I'd like to think that Toyota would toss that 4X4 badge on if it had it. I've never seen a 4WD one without unless the owner removed it. Every 2WD I've seen has lacked that marking.

Think about it... Literally every truck manufacturer throws a 4X4 on there somewhere if it is so equipped.

 

Saw one of these today...in Midnight Black with Raptor Side steps...oops, I mean those OEM side steps.

It had the 4X4 on the gate...I'm guessing it's not on mine since it's a Sport and says it on the side. (Not being demeaning)

 

Yeah my truck had a sticker on it when I bought it. I guess they are like the apples these days, they put the stickers on so the cashier can ring Ya up?

I'm retired USAF and earned my desire to buy a $40K truck.

I'm blessed to have the finances to buy such a conveyance.

And I'm happy every time I step into my driver seat.

 

Thank you for you service Sir. I was not trying to demean you in any way. I am saying, what the hell is up with all the 4x4 stickers on the trucks these days?

 

@TacoTime55 I just realized mine doesn't have a badge either. But does have the Sport 4x4 sticker on the bedsides. My buddies SR has the chrome badge on the tailgate.

They may put stickers on trucks to bring up the price...I agree with that sentiment.

But I was into this truck well before I knew about stickers. lol

I paid $32K for my 2003 Honda Pilot in June of 2002.

Paying $40K for a truck with 4X4 (and a skewp) seemed like a good trade off for me.

No harm, no foul. That's why I put the smiley face on my reply.

 

After I removed the decal from the side of my truck it was a new found freedom. I felt like it was actually my truck. The rest is kind of a blur but anyways that is where all the modifications started.

 

Has to start somewhere. I had to get rid of the Predator Steps. My shins where very grateful.

 

Looks like they had a little mishap, that tailgate took some sort of impact.
