“Ordered” Mine.... told the dealer what I wanted and they got it within 2 months, but already had an allocation in the works. So, I got lucky too...

This happened to me too. Wanted that, in inferno, with the black and orange interior (which, ironically I replaced with leather...stock covers for sale!).

Took like 9-10 weeks to get my 17. I have connections at my local dealer all the way up to the owner and GM so it seems like some strings were pulled to make it happen quickly.

Bought off the lot. Intended to get a QS or Cement and was leaning toward a Pro before I got to the lot.

They did not have a pro in either color. Looked at and drove an OR and a Sport. Both were missing things I wanted and had things I did not. liked the OR ride over the Sport. While they were looking for an OR with the config that I wanted I wandered the lot and looked at every new Taco. Saw 2 Lmtd that interested me and had the full tech and JBL, so I drug the wife over to the side to see them. She agreed that the silver was nice but did not like the other.

It had a few things I did not want so I haggled over the "extra" items telling them I would not pay the increase for them. They gave me the option of "normal" markup less the stuff I wanted off or leave it as is and I pay their invoice cost. In the end, they gave me the truck for their actual cost, my wife word in the back office and was able to verify what they paid SET.

I wound up buying my truck without a test drive of it or any other lmtd. The wife is happy (jealous in fact), I got all the options I wanted, and got a good deal (at least from my point of view). Then removed and sold what I did not want with the exclusion of the moon roof.

Listen and understand. I was out there. I wouldn’t be bargained with. I didn’t feel remorse. I didn’t feel pity, or fear. And I absolutely would not stop until I drove my truck off the lot. Searched and found an SR utility 4x4 manual, drove to it and bought it.

It's not like they're actually custom-building it for you, so a special order is really just waiting for that one to roll off the line, or for the dealers to trade. I was picky about my 2016. Got it in November 2015 after waiting a month or two. Ultimately it came in as a dealer swap (2016 TRD OR 4x4 DCSB, MGM, Tech & premium packages, no steps or other factory add-ons, no dealer add-ons, etc). I knew I was going to put a bunch of stuff on it and I didn't want to pay for crap I would immediately remove.

I bought mine from a friend that is the internet manager, simply called him around 10am, he told me what he had on the lot, picked the one I wanted and he had it delivered to my house that night about 7pm. Signed all the docs on my kitchen counter and they took my trade away.

    New off the lot...
I'd been scoping the dealerships for a month or so, and didn't see anything close to what I wanted.
On the morning of my 40th birthday I decided to look again.
They had just rolled my truck off the carrier and it was exactly what I wanted.

I started looking for my current truck back in September, trying to find the exact configuration that I wanted. I asked about ordering, but was told it would be a 2018 and I didn't want leather and didn't care about the TSS stuff. I was looking for a blue DCSB TRD OR 4x4 with premium/tech and JBL. I checked all of the surrounding states and managed to find about 5 of them. There were plenty that didn't have the JBL or premium/tech, but I wanted the JBL. I got quotes from the dealers that had what I wanted, but none were worth driving for. Another dealer about 2 hours away got one in exactly like I wanted and my wife and I were actually going to be in the area anyway, so we stopped by and ended up driving it off the lot. They were willing to move more than any of the others on price and they got me out the door at the number I wanted.

I had to "order" mine because I wanted an optioned 6MT TRD OR. Those don't pop up on the lot around here. They rarely ever have a 6MT much less a 6MT with the premium package. I had to request that package be added to my allocation as it did not originally have it.
