I agree, but I still eat it. Seems more of a waste to not, but that's just me. Usually make sausage or ground meat out of it.

Only on TW would a discussion of a road accident turn into a discussion of how to eat a deer! :D

Though the accident was caused by a deer to begin with, so...

I hit a deer on the NY State Thruway years ago. Fortunately it was in a rental car with the collision damage waiver. I never take those but for some reason that time I did.

I let the NY State Police take care of the deer. Not exactly the place to go get a deer carcass.

That's not a joke, that's a true statement that I can attest to! Truthfully, while I live in Central Bucks, the owner of the Inferno DCSB picture here actually lives further north and not in Bucks County...

In NC you may want to call the local game warden if you want to keep the carcass. Otherwise you'll "have/need" to claim it on your hunting license in order to have it in your freezer.

Even if you accidentally hit it with a motor vehicle rather than shoot it with a rifle, you still have to claim it on your hunting license? So you just call the game warden if you don't have a license?

For car hit deer some people just avoid the area of impact due to tissue damage. Nice to see the deer bounced off and that your friend is okay!

Only if you want to keep it. You wouldn't need a license if the game warden allows you to keep it. All depends on the officer that shows up. Most are cool.

Probably 12 years year ago, my aunt hit a deer with her 2006ish Hyundai Santa Fe (this was here in PA, but farther north, in the Lehigh Valley area); The Santa Fe was not totaled, but it had to be towed due to the severity of the damage (including a busted radiator. While my aunt was waiting for the tow truck, a guy in a pickup happened to be driving by; He pulled over and asked if my aunt was going to keep the deer; My aunt said no, and he loaded up the deer into his truck and took it home for dinner...

    Gotta love that redneck mindset!

He says barely even felt it; He saw the deer and there was nothing he could do, at all, whatsoever...
