Things to get me in over my head
Bought off of the lot, just not my local lot. No sense in ordering, there is a configuration somewhere that you want. I had to travel 2 hours to get what I wanted. Better then waiting for however long it would have taken to get to my local dealer. You can also get a better deal dealing with the dealer who has the rig on there lot, opposed to a dealer swap.

Off the lot. It was freaking fate. September 2015 and one of the first 3rd Gens my dealer sold. What were the odds of finding a silver TRDOR AC that I would have otherwise had to order? I had to give them whatever they asked for it. Right? :anonymous:

I actually ordered two, I could not make up my mind. I ordered a silver Sport and Limited, both equipped as I wanted. Sport came in first and I took it. Wife and I both kind of liked the sport better anyway.

My TRD Sport AC Manual was on the lot. It was exactly what I wanted except, given the choice, I may have opted for a different color.

I got my Toyota at a Ford dealer. I was buying a 2.7eccoboost and they had this Blue Taco with 15,000 mile on it. I always wanted a Blue Taco!

Very same experience I had when I was first shopping for my last truck back in '06/'07. I went to 5 Toyota dealerships in two towns and found exactly one Tacoma 4x4 manual transmission. I was also looking at Nissan Frontiers equipped the same way. I wound up ordering the Frontier 4x4 6-speed manual. Was a super truck in every way. Ten years as a daily driver. My left knee is being replaced soon.....so is right shoulder, lol. I went with an automatic this time around with my Tacoma and I have to say it's a smooth drive......but I do miss the stick.

Bought off the lot. Had brought my wife’s car in for service and was walking around the lot killing time and saw the truck I ended up buying. DCSB Sport 6MT. Asked to test drive and within the first few minutes I knew I wanted that truck. If I was doing it again I might order one but my truck checks most of the boxes for what I want. That was over a year ago now and I still enjoy driving my truck.

My previous vehicle, a 2006 CRV, developed water problems. Namely, a solid 1/2'' of standing water under the carpets. I'd just paid to replace the whole ABS system earlier that year, at a cost of over $2100, so I threw up my hands and went shopping. I'd never driven a manual, never driven a pickup. Went looking at T4Rs, they were too costly for me. But I found two dealerships near me who were going to be getting a SR Access Cab 4x4 5spd MT w/ convenience package in a week or so. Went to the closer one first, did the deal, waited my week or so and went to pick it up. My salesperson offered a test drive. When I told him I'd just spent $27000 on a truck I couldn't drive, he stopped asking questions and went back to filling out paperwork. My Dad had to come to the dealership and drive it away for me.

I wanted a TRDOR in black or white with no sunroof. I searched cars.com, did my haggling thru email and then drove about 100 miles to trade my 4cyl SR for a new black TRDOR.

With the exception of badging/decals, and obviously the TRD PRO,all 3rd Gen Tacos look the same to me now in terms of ride height...

    Are any 2WD 3rd Gens 5-luggers?

My '85 is 6 lugs. Didn't know any Toy 4X4s were anything but 6. Maybe the 2wd are.

They made plenty of 4x4 4 cylinder 5 lugs.

5 lugs are more commonly associated to the 2wd axle over spring models of yesteryear. True mini trucks.

There are no axle over springs now.
