Yup whole reason I went new was seeing these 2018-2020 with 70k for $45k. I finally test drove a 2020 OR and a 2019 TRD Pro they wanted 48k for the 2020 and 54k for the 2019 Pro. I left that toyota dealer, went home and called as many dealers as I could till I found the original truck I wanted brand new for cheaper than both of those.

I have seen vehicles at buy here pay here lots that I would pay cash for...

    :anonymous:

However, I have good credit and if I absolutely had to finance a vehicle, I would probably go through the manufacturer if it was new, and my bank if it was used.

My dad's 2018 Yukon is paid off now, but he bought it used in November 2018 with 8,200 miles and financed it at like 3.3% interest. He and my mom paid cash for the 2013 Murano, which they bought used in September 2014. My Tacoma was $2,000 down with the rest financed at 0.9% APR through Citadel.

As stated above, if I saw something I really like at a buy here pay here lot, I would pay cash; However, my friend bought a 2010 Subaru from such a place last October and paid cash, and the engine blew up three weeks later!

My uncle bought a 2017 AC TRD Sport 2WD used at a Nissan dealership in 2019, for $25K! The truck only had like 17K miles and he paid cash; It is now worth over $30K!

Last year, my coworker bought an Inferno 2017 DCSB TRD Sport 6-speed 4x4 with 40K miles for $14K from his aunt; The truck is work like $34K!

One is not required to have a driver's license in order to own a vehicle, but why is this place enticing people without a driver's license to buy from them?!?!

These place prey on people who over stayed their visa or came here illegally. (not a political thing just stating facts). I use to work at the oreillys in major city that had a bunch of these lots. We had a guy from Ukraine that owned his own dealer started small and it grew pretty big. But they did the same financing until they got big. They love when people miss a payment and they get the vehicle back after the person has 5k into it after just a month or two. They want someone who wants a "american style" vehicle so bad that theyll pay 1k a month for something like this.

    OME and worth every penny.
People have figured out that selling for a depreciation is for suckas. As long as there is a demand, the skies the limit. Pretty soon used food will cost as much as new.

That's actually exactly what I was thinking, and since the vehicle is financed through the dealer rather than an established bank, they're probably not gonna give a shit if the undocumented immigrant can't obtain insurance...

It's not just this group, it's also people with low credit scores who have no alternative financing-wise. They sell them an overpriced vehicle with a decent down payment and then have them make weekly or bi-weekly payments at a 20% or more interest rate. If they buyer pays they win on the sale and the financing. If the buyer defaults they win too, as they get the vehicle back to do all over again and keep the cash the person defaulting has put into it. FYI, KBB private party sale average is just under $24k

Give it a few more years when mileage standard go up to over 40 MPG, you think used vehicles are expensive now? Wait until all the new one's are hybrid's or electric and a standard gas one is the outlier. I ''could'' live with a hybrid but not an electric only and used electric anything on the used vehicle market always has buyers wondering when that replacement battery cost is going to hit them, especially if financed. A well maintained gas engine can last decades easily, at some point you HAVE to replace batteries, you still can't get around it at this point of development of them.

Think bigger, I agree to a point. What about they person who's on their 5th plus DUI in our state I believe that's a 10 yr ban from owning a car. Some states it's a lifetime ban. If the person isn't sober they are helping to commit murder or leave someone maimed for life with no insurance. My real feelings on this would probably get me banned again. I remember a few yrs back working at a dealership we had a person Bring a car in that had a tube and camera on the dash when they brought it in, it was replaced any bulb that is out and begged us no to start it, if it was to be started they had to do it . Because if we did they would have been arrested the car impounded. Found out later it was a trial stipulation to get driving privileges back from a lifetime ban.

I had the opportunity to buy a 2010 Prius a little over a year ago; Only $5,600 but it had almost 170K miles. Was a bit worried about the batteries failing...

100%. Look at that fender/bumper fitment on the passenger side! Not to mention a shitty paint match. Very likely in a front end collision to an unknown extent.

I don't think any one state can ban a person from owning a car; Hell, while they can be banned from driving on paper, but that ain't gonna stop them from driving. I live in Pennsylvania, and PennDOT actually thinks that making a person mail their license to Harrisburg for the duration of the suspension is going to stop them from driving.
