It had some rust, but it had the frame replaced in 2011!

I'd turn it into an off-road toy and add one hell of a sound system!

But as far as off-road mods I think we are definitely on the same page!

Another random question from a 2nd Gen owner who's driven a couple of 1st Gens but has never owned one...

I know that power steering was an option on certain Tacomas until 1996 or so, and that A/C was an extra cost option on certain models until 2011 (though I've only seen one 2nd Gen with no A/C in person).

Was it possible to get a Tacoma from the factory with A/C but no power steering?

I know it's possible to add A/C to a non-A/C Taco. My uncle successfully installed a complete A/C system from a wrecked '94 pickup in his '91 pickup that did not have A/C. The '91 never had power steering...

good question but I bet the answer is no. Steering angles, caster maninly, for a P/S equipped vehicle are different than a manual steering vehicle. Old school vehicles compensated for this by putting a larger diameter steering wheel on... think mid 50's pickups if you have ever driven one.

I've driven a '74 Ford F100 with manual steering and manual brakes before...

    @Jamesboy2233

Does your title say "1995" or "1995.5"?

My dad photographed this 1998-2000 SR5 4x4 in Maryland while stuck in traffic on his way home from a business trip...

    IMG_2173.jpg

He was stuck in traffic and texted the picture to me. I immediately assumed "Frame rust!" However, my dad believed that the truck was either hit on the right side or a tree fell on it, and upon closer inspection I believe he is right...

What do the people of TW think happened here?!?!

If a tree fell on it, I would expect to see a major curved indent at the top of the bed where the tree actually stuck the truck. Did he get a look at the other side?

It does look a little odd..

I think it was frame rust and when someone tried to lift it it buckled, then when they put it back on the ground the back is tweaked up a bit, and to the side lol maybe one part of the frame fractured more than the other

    Sadly no...

It appears to be bowed downward in the center, but it appears as though it was hit on the right rear fender...

    That's red... o_O

The bed still appears to have the clear coat, but the cab and front clip have faded/oxidized...
