    Hey guys!

Got a problem with my 2007 4.0 automatic taco and hoping someone has run into this before and can help.

First off I got a remote starter professionally installed a couple months back and it has worked very well until about a week and a half ago when we hit a super cold snap. Not sure if this is related or not but I think it is.

The remote starter still works great and will start it even in the super cold and it runs just fine with no dash lights or irregularities, however when I put in the key and press the brake pedal to shift it into gear, the air fan immediately shuts off, the ABS/brake/all three 4x4 lights/oil/airbag lights all come on and even though trucks stays running it locks me out of shifting out of park.

Even when I try and start it with just the key and not the remote start I get the same no fan and all the dash lights and it won’t turn over at all.

The only way I’ve gotten it to work is to remote start and put the heater air to floor setting and let everything warm for a half hour or so then finally it lets me press the brake pedal without freaking out and works perfectly.

    thanks for any help!

Takeing it back to the 'professional' would seem reasonable

Gonna agree that taking it back to the remote installer is a good recommendation. It sure seems to be remote start related failure regardless if the weather caused it. I bet that removing it will fix the issue.

Alot of the "professional" remote start installations I see don't look very professional (not saying your's is a bad install but most of the installs I see are pretty crap).

It sounds to me like one of the connections they made came apart or there is a problem with the remote start itself, you can either dig into it yourself and see or take it back where you had it installed and see what they say.

Took it back to the install shop and talked with the actual technician. Before he even looked at the vehicle he knew what was wrong based on my description. Turns out the wiring harnesses are notorious for the tab breaking the holds it snapped together. They replaced the wiring harness and were good to go. Problem solved. Thanks for the help!
