WTF? Have you put 60,000 plus miles on the truck? Is this real life? I call either troll or someone who has no idea how to drive a stick or treat a vehicle and clearly abused the hell out of it so they won't cover it.

Well what happened is my cousin financed the truck for his friend and the so called friend just took off and after six months of not paying or any contact blew the transmission then took the truck To some small shop to have the work done after a few weeks in the shop they called my cousin and told him he needed to pay for the parts they had ordered that is how we found the truck after a huge ordeal the truck was released to my cousin and towed to Toyota dealership they said that since someone else had taken everything apart that the warranty was void so I paid for a used transmission and caught up all his late payments and have been paying them so the truck will be mine so after about five months the transmission that I bought which I was told came from a Tacoma that was rolled with about 20 thousand miles starts making that chattering noise and the shop that sold me the transmission tells me that it needs to be replaced again along with the steering rack which keeps draining all the fluid out sorry I didn't explain it better before

Sorry about my grammar it's a forum post I was looking for advice not a grammar lesson. It's a 2014 and I do know how to drive a manual. I tried to help my cousin and get a reliable truck at the same time. I had to buy the transmission because the person who had the truck first treated it like shit and was hiding it so instead of going to the dealer he went to some little shop. Obviously I tried going through Toyota to have them cover the problems which they refused so I went to another shop that had good reviews now I'm stuck with a truck I've paid a lot more than I should of for

Sounds like you are going to have to eat it. I would try the steering rack myself but go around and get a few quotes for the transmission. I'm sure you already know this but your cousin is an idiot.

Dig around for the paperwork from the first time you had the tranny done and see if you can find the warranty.

Before we start with real life advice for this mess, whose name is on the title of the truck? Is there a recorded lien on the truck? Who is the lienholder?

This is important. Don't put your money into it if it isn't yours in the eyes of the law.

When I was a cop back in the day I heard these stories over and over again.

Never. Never. Pay other people's bills, car payments, repair costs, etc unless you expect absolutely nothing in return.

Do not. Ever. Buy a vehicle for someone else using your name, your money, your credit. Period.

Unless you are legally married to them they have absolutely zero stake in taking care of it, making payments, etc and you have little to no recourse when they continue to act like the irresponsible people they obviously are since they couldn't buy their own car in the first place.

And don't invest money into someone else's vehicle because they claim they will give it to you once its paid for.

    Lots of good advise here.

If your name is not on the title/lien, Run away and do not spend (waste) another penny on this loser. Save your money and purchase your own car/truck.

If someone else is on the title / lien after you get it all fixed they can just drive off and leave you with nothing. You will have no legal rights.

It's not the output shaft bearing it does not turn unless the truck is moving. The 6 speed normally makes noise in neutral not a lot but it's there.

If some clown asked me for money to fix his 1 year old truck I'd tell him to sell it and buy something he can afford. Maybe if it was a 2005 and he was a single parent I'd help him

Once you figure out the owner situation, assuming this truck is yours. Thoughts on replacing it with OEM tranny?
