How do these cool the cab down in comparison to the cover craft hard sun shades?

I like that they are more compact but do they work as well and the hard shades?

 

I believe the hard sun shades would be far better at blocking heat and reducing uv damage. They appear to be far better for their purpose, with a price to match the up in overall quality.

These sun shades are around the same as standard twist/fold sun shades. Quality is far better than the POS that my dealer sells. The size of these are basically perfect for the Tacoma 3rd Gens. Unfolded, they match the size of the windshield, and stay put without the use of the visors. And just as simple to store. Truck is mildly warm, but not blazing hot at high noon.

 

Will these fit even if I have dashcam installed and want the dashcam to have unubstructed view? It looks like they are flexible enough that it would, but want to make sure before I purchase one.

 

I have a dashcam, and it fits fine. It will still record unobstructed. Well depends on your dashcam setup.

been using a heatshield - it was a good fit new and for 2.5 season. but now it's flimsy and will not stay in place.

I choose to cover mine due to the blazing temperatures of the midwest. This shade is perfect for the fact. I believe you can set it behind your dashcam if you are wanting.

 

So a question that may seem weird, @Level7Taco, but there is an explanation. Has anyone tried painting these a different color than silver?

I have a black and red theme going with my truck. And the sunscreen I have now is the only one I could find in red. But it's an accordion style one that is flimsy and sags in the middle and is just... not making me happy with it. So I'm on the hunt for a replacement. Didn't know if anyone had tried or had some information on how well paint would bond with this. Or any other ideas someone may have in regards to adding color to these.
