    I like the “soft open” feature as well, those features are about all I need. It’s like the current “don’t slam” toilet seats, love ‘em. I also installed the OEM remote tailgate lock, love it. I have a tonneau cover so my bed is basically a huge trunk.

    Why don't Toyota make the tailgate a little less easy to remove so it's not as easily stolen? Toyota put a lock on the Tacoma tailgate which is good. The tailgate isn't going to be theft proof, but all the R&D has been completed by the aftermarket. How much would it cost for Toyota to do this?

    I have a better idea than discussing how the tailgate should be designed.

    Toyota, I’ll be waiting for royalties.

    Just get rid of the tailgate as a standard option. Mesh tailgate net is $500 option. Regular tailgate as we know it is $1k option.

    Or they can make it a subscription to be able to open the tailgate.

    Am I doing this right?
