    OP, check see if it might be coming from the cats. Ive heard of this before and it was the cats. Do this by putting your truck on JACK STANDS, not jacks. One its up on 4 solid stands, with drive gear engaged, have someone rev it while youre near the cats. Also, while the engine is going, check to hear if it's coming from the engine bay. Might be a bad bearing or possibly a belt. Or maybe it your drive train. Rev that thing and pin point the source of the noise. Once you do that, youre halfway done to getting it fixed.

    Some customers may experience a ticking or tapping–type noise from the engine area

    at 2000 – 2500 rpm during acceleration that is most noticeable after a cold soak.

    New exhaust manifolds have been developed to minimize this condition.

    Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
    There was a TSB on the V6 to reflash the ECU to fix pinging.

    Workd when mine did it around 30-40k miles. I thought it was getting warmer and just starting to ping so I started running 91 octane then it kept getting warmer and kept pinging worse and worse. Saw the TSB was released a week or so before I went into the dealer, so early he didn't even know it existed.

    Hasn't happened since.
