I have a RAV 4, but my daughter is looking for a Tacoma. It will be the first car she has ever purchased - others have been beat up
hand me downs. Here’s what she’d like to find:

    2013 - 2015 Tacoma
    4 WD
    Half cab
Silver (preferably because we live on a 1/2 mile gravel lane)

    We live in northern Indiana.

New to Tacoma; I have a RAV 4. Around here, I heard the backseat (if not bench seats) being referred to as a half cab. Should I be describing it as something different? I’ve had to learn the lingo. All the men, in my family, have large pickups (no Toyotas). Only one other female relative has a Toyota besides me. My daughter’s dad is trying to steer her toward Chevy, Ford, etc, but my daughter is firm on a Tacoma. After doing research, we’ve decided on the years 2013 - 2015; to keep the payments down.

What the hell is a dual cab? It’s double cab.

You know full well he wants an AC.

If you didn’t everyone else did.

OP, good choice in years! 2013-2015 is a solid first truck, I’m jealous!

Search for Access Cab trucks to help find the one you’re looking for. Good luck!

After you find one feel free to reach out for the main tips and tricks for these great trucks.

Only real thing to look for in those years is more or less rust haha the least amount the better :)

What is wrong with you guys busting his chops over what he calls an access cab. Who cares if he calls it a 1/2 cab, or calls it two seats and storage space. You all knew exactly what truck he meant.

OP, obviously these older trucks have a tendency to develop rot real bad. Given your location, do you intend to shop and purchase a truck from the South or West?

When I was looking for the same age Tacoma in southern Indiana, I was seeing a lot of rust on frames. The "problem" with these tacomas is they are so mechanically sound that often the drive train can outlast the steel.

You absolutely cannot buy a 2nd Gen Tacoma without getting under it and looking for rust.

I expanded my search south of the Mason Dixon line and ended up driving to Chattanooga, TN for a rust free 2012. This was in 2021.....so about the same age as a 2016 is today.

I'm sure someone in Indiana (besides me) owns a rust free 2nd Gen....but the ones that were going up for sale at dealers were anything but that, based on what I was seeing.
