Thank you for the pictures. That exterior shot makes it look very long

That's uncalled for.. Toyota has been showing this truck across Canada, anyone can show up at the location and take pics.. this is the second such thread and there's also a detailed video shown in another thread where the truck was shown in Montreal. So ya, I can see your logic, if you attend this free to all event, you must be on the take from Toyota.

Fuse, thanks again for the photos and info. I learned about the showing in Vaughn, Ontario the day after it happened and what's worse, is on that day, I was about 10 km away from the Bass Pro Shops' parking lot where the truck was being shown :(

Professional shots (including dealer branding), non-committal responses, deferring any specific questions to 'we'll see when Toyota..'

Just calling it like I see it mate.

Unless you know of a source to get specific answers, like mpg. Your original comment is just throwing insults.

Just calling it like I see it, mate.:D

Thanks Fuse for the post / photos

Professional shots? looks like cell phone shots to me.. Toyota has been giving non answers on any specifics, don't shoot the messenger.. he can't tell us more than he's been told.. and it's good to know that the press intro is in 2 weeks and then we wait for the embargo to be lifted, which is the M.O. for any vehicle intro. The manufacturer sets the release of info date and the invited press must abide by that date.

It's the LB. That would be too tight in my garage, so I'll go with the SB.

I went on my own to look out of interest. Checked out the truck, ate Toyotas free hamburgers, and took some photos. Asked questions that I've seen repeated in this forum a lot, thinking I could be helpful to this community.

If you see anything in my posting history that makes you think I'm a Toyota marketing shill, I'd like to see it.

Where do you see Dealer branding? Professional pics? How can he comment on information he knows nothing about. he knows as much as the rest of us.

Thanks for sharing these pictures. I am only 5'10 and when I tried Ă  2015, I had to be cautious not to bang my head when getting in. Did you noticed if the door opening is higher?

No problem. I didn't notice any difference in the door openings to be honest. But I've also never hit my head in my 2nd Gens.

Before getting a truck, I always owned little/low cars, so I think I've conditioned myself to fold up when I get into any vehicle haha.

    Thanks for posting the pics.
Was leaning toward SB but LB looks good in the pics. With LB will be able to carry mountain bikes in the back without having to get creative.
Unless someone has a good option for 2 MB in SB will get LB

You have choices! If you're in Canada, you do not.. You want 4x4 and automatic? Long bed is your only choice. You want manual transmission? Short bed is your only option.

You want off-road, then AC is your only option. This sucks so much...

Here are some my pics from the same Cochrane event. Was a few Toyota's in the parking lot but overall there was not a lot of people checking out the new truck. When it closed up at end of day a big semi came to pick up the truck. The Tacoma was not being driven cross country.

Access to the truck was easy but of course you could not start or test drive it. My overall impressions are the followings:

Center console and glove box - slightly smaller than the previous generation

Plastics on dash - slightly better than previous generation but barely noticeable jump in quality. The orange trim might look dated pretty quick.

Plastics on door - less cloth fabric and more of a rubbery fabric on door linings

Knobs - different looking but about the same quality as the previous generation

Seating position and space - same as previous edition (both front and back) and as noted, no power seats

Seat Fabric - I was in the TRD Sport. The seats are a jump in quality from my 2010 SR5 (so they should be) but I don't think they are better than by brother in laws 2012 TRD Sport. Frankly I would say they are slightly worst in comfort and the fabric quality is slightly worst too (first impression) in what I suspect is their long term durability. The fabric seems of the type that I think could collect and hold a lot of lint and be a PITA to clean (much in my wife's 2006 Accord - if you own one of those vehicles you know what I mean)

Interior Space - might be an optical illusion but I think there may be a bit more space in the front seat of the trunk because the dash console does not seem to extend as far into the cabin of the truck.

Exterior - looks like an updated 2nd gen. Not much of a change. Front end (with the exception of the grill) does not look too bad. The grill - well all I can say I hope there is some aftermarket ones out there soon. Not sure what Toyota was thinking....

    Thanks for the addition, Tunngavik.

I'm with you on pretty much all your observations, although I thought the interior "feels" much nicer then the 2nd Gen. Hard to say how it'll wear or what one would notice in more then a few minutes though.

Did you do the trail run after?

Cut an 18"x4' piece of plywood and put a few of these, or cheaper, on it. The board lays at the front of the bed and bikes sit lower in the bed.

Were you there at the end around 4:45 - 5:15? There was a guy there taking photos with his buddy. His buddy asked him about his 2015 and his response, with a lot of emotion and disdain, was that he should of waited for the 2016. I got a chuckle out of that.

Trail run - Unfortunately no. I saw the trucks in the lot who were going on the run and compared it to my 2010 4x4 4 banger with a topper and stock tires and didn't think it would make it.

Yes, it's tough to get a solid impression with only a few minutes in the truck let alone a long test drive. The truck seems to be an improvment over the old one but I guess it's not the jump I was hoping for for a new generation.
