Would you agree this is the same harness? Only, I see an extra part, is that a relay or converter?

    Look what I found:

I'd say get the Amazon one. If something went wrong years down the line, the 2nd Gen towing converter can be adapted to function if the Combination Meter PCB fails.

So, we can confirm that the 11766 part numbers are compatible?

The extra towing converter would not be necessary to use with the Tacoma's on board 4pin system?

Nope, on the 3rd Gen it's integrated/part of the Combination Meter PCB.

    Leading to another question/clarification,

Is this needed inline to run 12v power to the 7pin? or will I use just an inline fuse(EDIT*) auto-reset breaker, 30amp? I am now feeling like I am overcomplicating things.

For the Towing Brake Module, the power source should be a fuse.
For the Trailer Battery Charger Circuit the auto reset breaker is fine.

AWESOME! I have a 10 amp fuse on a fuse tap with my used controller, and the breaker is in the mail.
I ordered this part and was hoping I could just use the harness and throw out the housing from said part curt trailer adapter.

The bumper can be cut (Plastic). If you look under the Taco you can see the metal has a hole where the OEM trailer connector would go.

Suggestion on attaching, but whatever you decide. Keep it weather proof, loom the wires, secure from movement and chaffing.

I would highly suggest just going with a 4 pin. There should be plug and play kits for that. The uhaul trailer should have surge brakes. Any large trailer with onboard electric brakes will most likely be too much for a 4 cyl. I recently towed a 3500lb travel trailer with my 3.5, and was left wanting more power. I could only imagine how bad a time that would have been with a 2.7.

you are going to not have a fun time pulling that much weight with that little engine. Been there done that. I had two 4cyl and now the V6

I have the 6cyl with the tow package and even regeared and tuned. 4K lbs is heavy going up steep grades (a lot of time in 3rd and 4th)

    I wouldn’t go over 2500lbs with the 4cyl realistically

Thanks, but I'm not planning to haul much weight just trying to get a few things out west. I will keep this in mind and likely going with the 4pin solution only and the smaller tow behind.
