I know the trail bed boxes are only for the short bed. I was wondering if you can customize them to fit a long bed. I feel like they would be a good edition but I am unsure if that would work.... Let me know if anybody has any suggestions?

If the measurements from the front of the bed-fender hump to the front of the tailgate are the same, why wouldn't they work since the 6' bed is longer in front of the rear axle? Take in consideration I have never seen those boxes.

Likely not. They use the bed bolts to attach. The front ones are in a different location. I think the fender wells are shaped a bit different also? You can sorta see it in these pics:

I just recently took mine out of the Trail. They actually attach to the bed using the D-ring bolt not the bed bolt. The biggest difference I can see from the pictures above is the silver tie down (pad eye) at the cab end of the bed. The placement of those bolt holes is up above the wheel well on the DCSB and there's a bolt inside the trail box that goes to the rivnut for the pad eye. The rest of the attachments are through the rail bolts (trail box goes behind the rail). If the rail bolts are the same spacing on the LB, then it would be plug and play and just leave off the inside bolt (that's maybe just for security since someone could otherwise remove the box). If the rail bolts don't line up, you could just drill new holes in the plastic.

    There's a good video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=joz5Ru9Jz3M

I'm sure something can be done to make them fit. But having had them, I can tell you it probably wont be worth the hassle. The boxes are pretty close to useless. I was happy to get a 100 bux for them...

@RYE793 Do they take up a lot of the available space in the bed? Are they pretty bulky? They look like they do!

@Crazy Larry @tonered Thank you for the info. I honestly wanted to do it because I found them for like $50 but I wouldn't want to drill into the plastic. I think I might just pass. If it was easier I would do it, but also I never really looked into how much space they take. They look huge in the video.

Yes they definitely take up a lot more room than they were worth. This was the main reason for removal. Taking them out and adding the bed mat is one of the best things I've done to my truck so far...HTH

I think you just made up my mind for me. I am gunna stay away because I would like to keep the bed space. I was thinking for $50 it wouldn't be bad, but I am not willing to sacrifice the bed space for something that I won't use that often. @RYE793

    Cheers!

Yup. They not only fill in the wheel well area, but suck up a lot of space in the middle of the bed. They also prevent you from installing a Softopper or even some other mods that might use the accessory rails. Pretty much, there's a reason that someone is down to a $50 sale price. Hahaha!

Why would they prevent a soft topper? Just out of curiosity? @tonered

The frame of the ST drops down below the level of the accessory rails. It would interfere with the boxes.

@Hercanstein It was on craigslist. I saw a member trying to get rid of his for free in the free section. I believe he was from Idaho.
