^ You can't gauge the msrp back in 2007 to what the market is today. If this truck was rust free and the interior was in better shape, 15k is actually a great deal in todays market. Heck, I'd pay 13-16K for a clean 2007 TRD 4x4 as a older 3RD Gen t4R are now in the 7-12k price range.

That being said, get away from that Tacoma, it's going to be an absolute headache.

There is a reason there is absolutely no pics of the underside of that truck. Rusted mess and has had no treatments for years, if it ever did. I don't think that likely ever made it to the first Taco frame undercoat glop ''recall.'' And it's past the new frame time of 12 years so you would get nothing.

You CAN find rust free vehicles in Michigan, however, those will be owned by people who have a winter beater they use while the rest of their vehicles hibernate for 6 months. [I do this]

If I was selling a Taco in Michigan [heck, anywhere] I'd have 1/2 dozen decent pics of the frame and undercarriage because that will tell Taco owners/buyers more about the condition of the vehicle then 1000 pictures of the rest of it.

The auto place probably already drank up your $500 over the weekend celebrating the sale of their rusted out, frame holed lemon they bought from auction for $3 grand. I'd bet that someone dumped it on a trade in and it went straight to auction due to the frame.

And when the body starts rusting on a Taco, the frame is likely gone. As lousy as the frames can be if not kept up, the bodies seem to hold up extremely well. It's what fools so many buyers into thinking they are getting a really nice truck for the money. [and Tundras are just as bad, I've seen some hot rusty messes underneath very nice looking Tundras.

I'll add, I don't think Canadian trucks were ever under any type of Toyota recall for rusty frames so any treatment by Toyota is a moot point. Most Canadian imports are rusty hot messes if imported from populated areas where they use salt.

Understand your disappointment but you are definitely looking for the right thing. You'll love your Tacoma but you can do a lot better for $15K than the one your are currently looking at. With the right choice and a little patience you can fly to any state in the country after finding the truck that checks out and drive it home trouble free.

Yes, but look and think carefully! There is LITTLE EVIDENCE (I'm guessing no service records) that this truck has ever been valued and taken care of the way it deserved to be.

Pretty sure I saw a diff lock button on the dash..

Might be the truck for you if you don't mind ragged out seats and a rusty frame, but I agree, I would pass and keep looking

    Hmm . . . none as yet, that's why i'm here . . .
To be sure about the frame, have a Toyota dealer run the VIN, that will tell you. Don't rely on the seller.
All indications are this would not be a good purchase.

I am NOT a dealer. Just a fan of Second generation Tacomas. An Access Cab 4X4 fits my needs best so here is my story.

I bought a 2013 SR5 in October from a Ford dealership in Tulsa. It was used but not abused. Very clean on the inside and the frame had some rust that would be considered normal for Oklahoma. I sold it to a rancher last week with 190,000 miles and new rear springs for what I paid for it: $16,500.

I found and bought a 2005 TRD Off Road with a 6 speed manual in December. It looked like a two year old truck. Beautiful and clean. No rust. Original frame. Discovered at my age I was past rowing gears. Sold it for $15,500. The catalytic converters needed to be replaced. Other than that it was nearly perfect with 109,000 miles.

I wanted the TRD Off Road and after a long search I found the truck for me in Texas at a stealership. A 2012 TRD Off Road with 158,000 miles. It is another clean, sharp truck. Minimal frame rust but the truck spent most of its life in Massachusetts and New York before going to Austin. $20,000. The owner of the dealership was at the car auction while we were buying the truck. He called the salesman with instructions to raise the price on 14 vehicles a minimum of $1,000 because of the amount of money vehicles were bringing that day at auction. CRAZY market. This truck was on the list. We were paying for the truck when the call came.

Run from that one. I found mine on Autotrader and set the range at 500 miles.
