Just purchased a Tacoma Solar Octane Pro in Alberta Canada. The upgrades are tinted windows, tinted head lights and tail lights, 6 speaker JBL stereo with 10inch sub, also TRD exhaust with TRD air-intake; the hood scoop is only functional with the TRD intake as I had my friend who is mechanic spec it out. So the Hood Scoop is not fake but you have to have the intake. So all those who say it’s fake are wrong. The air-in-take paired with the TRD exhaust and active scoop gives you gains of 10 to 20 more horse power. That’s The Tacoma made for Canada.

Your “mechanic” friend is wrong. The hood scope is purely cosmetic.

When you get ownership, open the hood and look at the scoop.

You have a nice truck but you may be overselling the mods a bit.

We have one at my Calgary dealer waiting for delivery as well, the orange is way better than the green.

Nope it’s not in Canada it’s real, sorry man we specd it out and looked under the hood it’s not. Sorry to disappoint you as he works on big rigs in the oil patch.

Where exactly does the hood scoop feed into this TRD intake at? (The answer is nowhere)

So your friend the mechanic somehow got Toyota to equip a truck with a “real” hood scope.
I’m mean, he’s not wrong. As the scoop is real. It just doesn’t do anything for engine. Not even with the “TRD” intake. The scoop is just for looks…..

What if I told you that one of the people that answered you was a Tech for Toyota.
And that he also lives in Canada?

Not in this case. Go pop the hood and see for yourself. Maybe find a new mechanic buddy that knows what he’s talking about. He might be good on big diesel rigs but he’s no help with this Tacoma so far.
