My friend recently purchased a Tacoma TRD pro from a used car dealership. I believe it’s a 2015 or 2016 Tacoma but it has a Georgia edition decal on the side that appears to be from the factory. As far as I am concerned there are no other Georgia edition TRD pros because I can’t find any information on it. If anyone knows anything about this trim please let me know. Thanks !

Most likely a custom decal by the previous owner. I have custom bedside decals that says "SR5 Off-Road" yet there were no SR5 Off-Road variants. Just a little custom touch.

2016 Tacomas are the 3rd gen models, and this Tacoma has the pre-2012 2nd Gen headlights.

    I think it's a bit older

    Fakery.

As long as he didn't pay more for the 'edition' it's ok though.

It's an older truck in the '05-'11 range.

I'm not a package guru, but did they even make Pros back then?

Thx. Found a couple of old posts............

"Just badges they didn't come out with pro till 2015" IE yes it was called a Pro, but

"TX - Pro's are simply TRD Off roads with different rims, trd cat back exhaust, and badging. No suspension differences at all."

So...... that means it was a weak sauce pretty boy package.

Sort of, TX Pro was just an appearance package as you mentioned, skid, exhaust, badging and the beadlocks. 2012 the TX Baja came out, the first real pro (minus the skewp). Came with all the TX Pro stuff, plus the upgraded bilstein suspension. 2015 the TRD PRO dropped which was basically a TX Baja with a hood skewp.

As far as OPs truck I'm guessing a 2011, notice the updated tail lamps which showed up 2009 and the honeycomb single center grill ran in 2011 only, but could be a mutated prior truck if someone swapped those.

When the Baja's dropped I remember sitting in one getting ready to trade my 2008 TRD Sport Prerunner and only dreaming of being able to afford one like it someday, lol, back when I was a new E4. Still think they are gorgeous trucks, they'll age well and be coveted some day. I fear the 3rd gens wont age quite as nicely.

It has a factory rear locker so I assume it is a real TRD pro.

That’s my bad I’m not a Tacoma owner so I’m not super familiar on the generations and how to differentiate them.

It wasn’t just the TRD Pro that came with factory rear e-lockers

As other have said, it’s a custom made decal

All good. Just know you possibly have a TX Pro (similar to the TRD Off Road) with a custom bed decal. Build it up and have some fun.

As others said, 05-11 year truck and not factory sticker. You can get whatever you want made as a sticker for the bedside that looks like factory.

I think you should probably go straight to the source for information regarding the trucks build date and option package, ie the VIN.

That is no TRD Pro. They did not offer that package for the year of that model.

If it is your friends truck and he purchased it being told it was a Pro, he got hoodwinked. If he is trying to tell you it’s a Pro, he’s shading you(unless, of course he doesn’t know either).

The Vehicle Identification Number(In short, called a VIN), will have the basic DNA of the truck encoded within it.

You also have to be careful a lot of 2nd gems later years will come up as Pros on vin check when they are not. I’ve seen a few others looking at trucks that dealers said pro based on vin look up when in fact were OR
