Over on the Toyota 4 Runner forum there's talk of delays in acquiring 4 Runner TRD Pro SUVs. More than one theory going on and supposedly some dealers know nothing about it or they're simply not talking.

I'm not in the market for a new Tacoma as I just purchased one, but am simply curious if people here are waiting for a long stretch to acquire a new Tacoma TRD Pro.

Unless things have changed in the last year or so, 4-runners are made in Japan, not the US so that might be part of the issue.

I didn't buy a Pro, but a regular 15 Tacoma DCSB. It took 7 weeks from the time I put the money down until the time I picked it up. Not exactly what you're looking for, I know. And I'm not really sure if that is a normal wait time or not. Just thought I would chime in with my experience in ordering a Tacoma.

For my new AC Sport....7 weeks and 2 days ffrom order to delivery.

I do know that here on the east coast, when I go into the Toyota web site to "build" a vehicle, I cannot pick the "PRO" access cab as an option. The only option I get is for the 4 door. The access cab button tells me to contact my Toyota dealer.

I am not sure if this helps or not but thought I would offer.

I told my dealer back in April that I wanted a TRD pro in white with Nav and the tow hitch package. Checked in with them once a month to get updates, but it wasn't until last week that the truck was alcollated. Finally have the spec sheet with vin#. Building is estimated to begin 11/10 with a delivery date in late Nov.\early Dec. I'm in northern NJ.

    Thanks for all the input.

Yes - the 4 Runners come from Japan. They land at various U. S. "ports".

    U. S. made vehicles go to distribution centers after mfg - some of which are also known as 'ports".

It's called "Littles law" Back log/Exit rate = lead time, while the exit rate of the Tacoma facility is pretty much stable the back log (orders) might have increased which causes a longer lead time...

I placed an order for a TRD PRO about 4 weeks ago and the last time I checked..on the 21st of October, there is no build date or ship date yet.

I think the word order is misused here. Over the last 14 years I have ordered 3 Audi's. When I do, I get a build date of my exact vehicle built for me. When you "order" a Toyota, Toyota just lets you know when they "happen" to build one that meets your specs, "happens" to be allocated to your region and "happens" to go to your dealer and it isn't already sold.

You think with cash in hand they would give you a slot and let you know when your vehicle will be built.

    Very annoying.

Just got a call that my Pro is "in flight" and should arrive before the end of the month, possibly before thanksgiving. I thought these were being assembled in Texas?

Most are shipped by train to district "Ports" and then trucked from there.
