Wish I knew this earlier, this one is so much cheaper. Does your display on the speedo still tell you the tpms?

Yes, the speedo shows the info. Also @zi0n confirmed that it does shows the info on the head unit. The dongle is required for the CarPlay.

This is correct. I got my Dasaita installed over the weekend, and here are my thoughts:

The Dasaita has the same issue as the Iying, that the brackets don’t line up correctly. I’ve tweaked mine twice, but the Toyota bezel keeps popping off, so I need to tweak it again tonight. Hopefully 3rd time is the charm.

As you mentioned, CarPlay does not work without a dongle, which is really annoying, I don’t understand why they wouldn’t just build that hardware in. But in any case, I ordered this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MZSL84F/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_tASwDbY53DBAK
It should arrive today, I’ll let you know how it works.

Another annoying thing is that there’s an app in the head unit, called “control settings” where you can alter vehicle settings via the can bus. It’s pretty poorly implemented, with bad English translation, slow behavior, and missing functionality. One of the settings is “small screen unit”. Unfortunately I messed with it, and it turns out that the only option available is km/l and l/100km. This changed all the units on my truck (including the odometer and speedometer) to KM! There’s no way to change it from the app! I ordered an obd2 adaptor from Amazon, so I should be able to fix it via an app like carista

Overall, I really like the unit though. I’ve been running Waze and google maps natively on the head unit, and it is great to have such a large screen for navigation!

After the morning rush, TSS worked as expected. Only beep once and it was right, front car stopped suddenly.

Yeah, the brackets are annoying af. I tried to use metra ones but it sticks out too far and the stock bezel didn't fit back on. So I'm using stock ones but bent. I grabbed some washers today to line it up perfecly because I'm not happy the way it sits atm.

That dongle should work, it is exactly the same one I have.

Also, the mic located in front of the unit apparently is a POS, nobody can hear me. IDK if there is a setting or something but haven't found it yet. Might have to route the extra one that came with the radio.

I cannot comprehend why they wouldn’t just use the factory mic. It’s already there, in the right place to pick up the drivers voice :notsure:

    All Tacoma’s got TSS in 2018. There’s no TSS in Tacoma’s pre-2018

Pretty sure nobody has figured out an adapter..... :( there was someone here developing one but that died too.

I'm still trying to figure out my mic issue. I tried recording with an app and it is static and low...I wonder if mine is defective? I don't wanna route the other one or have it visible :(
