Tacoma Trd Sport/Off Road Honeycomb Grill Emblem

I purchased a honeycomb grill for my SR5 to swap and assumed my SR5 grill emblem would plug and play. It doesnt. Anyone have a honeycomb grill emblem they’re willing to part ways with? (In the photo, the SR5 emblem is just sitting on the new grill FYI)

 

I was thinking about getting this grill too, but the SR5's Toyota logo doesnt fit in it? Were you ever able to get one that does fit?

 

I didn’t know the SR5 emblem was a different size than the TRD Sport/Off Road emblem.

 

I think the emblem is the same overall spec. The issue is the clip pattern on the back of it — that connects to the grill. I’d highly suggest that if you buy the grill, get one with the emblem attached. I was looking for a budget route, so got the grill really cheap. I’ve found a few emblems on eBay for ~$100. I hardly paid that much for the grill itself. Still looking for a used one though.

 

The logo is the same size but the mounting for it changed in 20. I put the 20 grill on my 19 and reused my 19 logo. I had to trim the plastic on the back of the logo and used the two studs on the back to put screws through the grill to hold it in place. Looks perfect and you'd never know.

Didn't take any pics of the trimming though. But it's pretty apparent what you need to trim to make it fit.

Found some pics of both grills I had with the logos off. You can see the mounting differences. The red arrows are the holes for the studs I used to hold the 19 logo to the 20 grill. Couple small holes in the 20 grill in the same spot and you're good to go.

 

I always wondered if my 2017 emblem would fit one of these grilles since I don't have TSS and would rather have the regular emblem.
