One is a midsize pick up. As such it has less power, less towing/hauling capability, and less interior room, but costs less and gets better mileage. In addition it's easier to park and maneuver around tight spaces.

The other is a full size pickup. As such it has more power, more towing/hauling capabilty, and more interior room, but costs more and gets worse mileage. In addition it's more difficult to park and maneuver around tight spaces.

I know it would be great to have a cheaper, more powerful, more efficient, more capable midsize truck that has a magical Trunk of Holding so it it takes up less room but has more interior and hauling space, but until that technology/magic comes to us Muggles, you gotta figure out what you need/want and take the tradeoffs accordingly.

I have a 17’ Tacoma off-road and a 11’ SC Tundra off-road. Both are great trucks. The Tacoma is easy to park and the tundra is a beast with 6 inch lift 35’s and 600 horse a pig on gas but the engine is bulletproof and a absolute blast to drive.

I own a Tacoma and have a Tundra for our work truck.
The Tundra sucks on gas mileage but tows like a beast.
The Tundra is terrible to park in tight lots, but it shifts better than the Tacoma.
We have had the same random radio reboots/shutdowns in the Tundra that some have experienced in the Tacoma, even after updates.

You can find a 1st gen tundra for rather cheap. They are almost the same size as a Taco and you can get them with a 4.0 V6 and save a little fuel over the V8 and you get bigger brakes, stronger axle and suspension over the Tacoma platform.

    Simply put, work vs. play.

The first gen Tundra is the only overlap really.

If you need to haul weight and get work done, a real 8’ bed, etc. Tundra.

If you want a DD to have some fun off road and occasionally haul something light, get the Tacoma (or 4Runner).

I had both and enjoyed the Tundra better on long trips but the Taco better around 'town'. Now I found the perfect size/combination for my needs with the 4Runner.

I have owned both... it’s not really worth discussing aside from the fact that they are both Toyota!

Just what you'd expect, I guess. The Tundra is bigger and more powerful, but gets poor mileage. The Tacoma gets OK mileage and is a convenient size, but doesn't have the power of the Tundra.

They just need to look at the rear diff and they will see what the difference is. Beefy.
That, and traction control is required on the Tundra if you stomp on it from a stoplight.
