Tacoma veterans help for buying around 25000 PLEASE

I need advice on buying a used tacoma. I need something good for offroading and commute. 4 door, 4x4, normal or long bed. I fell in love with the tacoma and want to make sure im going at it the right way. I could really use some advice on what to look for and what to lookout for..

Search the site and read the numerous threads about frame rust. Definitely something to look out for. I would also recommend not buying anything that is already lifted or heavily modified unless you know what you are looking at.

Welcome to TW...For 25k you should be able to get a nice 2012-15 2nd gen without much of a rust issue.

 

Thank you! i appreciate the simple advice for a simple man. I bought a 2013 access cab, 51k miles w/ shell topper. $25,000. couldn't be happier with the "hail damage" on the top. beastly truck even without lockers. made it through firebox on hardscrabble road in white river without a problem.
