We cancelled the Allstate policies last night on the cars. The office did not even seem to care when I called and told them I was desireing to cancel the policies! I was surprised that she did not ask why until at the end of the conversation. Then she tried to explain why the rates were doubled. bunch of shit.. Statefarm did come in and give us a great policy, I know they dont like to pay out but what insurance company does? My yearly cost will only be a little over 1,900.00 for all three vehicles plus my home owners policy cost dropped. such a relief . I did not want to have to sell a car to pay for friggin insurance ..:p

My little piece of shit Hyundai Accent is more expensive than my truck. They admitted its because the rate of crash's/repair of the car is high, they group everyone together regardless of driving history. Pretty fucked up what they can get away with... what the heck can we do?

I skipped on full coverage and it took care of my problem. But its only a $5000 car. Kind of my own dumbass fault if I total it, but its still covered from the rest of the moron population.

I'm with Usaa, parents have been as well for 30+ years. When I was in a hit an run accident that totaled my car, they paid $3500 more than we paid for my car. ($21000 paid) and then my insurance went up $7 a month after the accident (purchased same car after accident) I'd say they are a good company by my standards, although I will hate leaving my parents policy as my rates will go above the $90 a month I pay now

I don't think there is much we can do. It is law that you have to have insurance in this state. There is no Czar that oversees and says key that is an unfair practice! We just have to keep taking it in bottom. Insurance is a ponzi scheme any ways. You pay in all this money and never get it back.

Thats the point... I am suggesting going to an independent agent so you dont have to screw around online for hours putting in the my information on 12 websites to get quotes. Im not saying go with joe's auto insurance.com. I am saying let someone else do some of the work for you and make sure your needs are covered. Most independent agents wont deal with companies that have terrible service because thats a great way for them to lose customers. Im say most not all. Plus the independent insurance agent is the first point of contact when I need any type of service for my policies.

Also the best service doesnt necessarily come from the company that has the most commercials on tv. But its like buying a truck if you want to buy a ford you are going to buy a ford so suggesting anything else is like talking to myself.

The ponzi scheme is worse than you thought because the insurance industry is state regulated so the czar is there they just dont care too much. Plus the insurance rates are submitted and approved by the state before they can use them to charge customers.

Had American Family since my record cleared up from some, ahem, youthful indiscretions. We get good rates for the Taco - definitely not "unsafe vehicle" rates, plus our new Mazda 5, and a 2 unit building in Chicago. The few claims I've had with them were smooth as silk and resulted in no increase in my rates. This includes an uninsured driver crash in the city, and when my garage got torched, along with about 20 years worth of accumulated tools, and a 9 month old nicely modded Jeep. They paid replacement cost for the Jeep, plus everything I had into it: lift, tires, aftermarket soft top, and whatever else I claimed. No questions.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
That's ridiculous, these trucks are 5 stars all around I believe. I know they received the highest ratings for safety of all the mid size trucks out there.

I don't about your states registration. In California a Truck has to be registered as a commercial vehicle. Your insurance here will add a commercial premium to it. My 2000 Tacoma cost 117 a month for insurance. My 2006 Subaru Sti cost 67 a month. Both full coverage.

Kinda hard to compare as newer vehicles are always more expensive. You'd have to look at what insurance cost for a new 2010 in 2010 compared to a new 2012 in 2012

Because the cost of repairing anything related to a tacoma or 4runner is next to impossible. I work for a company that consults with insurace companies everyday.... I look on a daily basis for "back-up" parts for my 2012 just incase; I can not find anything used. This is the way an insurance company seeks parts for your wrecked vehicle, some like allstate and state farm require OEM parts only. ( OEM including new and used parts which ever is cheaper or more cost effective). Im kicking myself in the butt for denting my right rocker panel a few weeks ago

Yes it would be. I think that since the 2011 model was "the last" of that model they are just being bungholes.. I was surprised as well after reading the safety reviews. It was jawdropping, even though I have 6 airbags around me. I was willing to put a rollbar in if needed to. Hell it is only a few bolts to the frame..

Reading everyone's premiums I wish mine were that low. The truck is 197 and some change a month. Granted I am only 21 but have no tickets on my record. I do have full coverage with a 250 deductible though.

Since you said the Charger just sits in the garage have you considered specialty car insurance?

I had a 2007 Mustang GT a few years back that I didn't drive much. I had it insured through Heacock Insurance with a stated value of $35K (it was NOT stock) and it cost less than $300 a year with a 3k mile per year limit. They have higher mileage limits available if you drive it a little more than 3k/year. I have my 1983 5.0 Mustang insured with them now with a much lower stated value and it's less than $200/year.

A lot of people don't realize that specialty insurers will insure newer cars and not just classics/exotics. Something to think about if you don't use the Charger much.

Something maybe going on at Allstate. Our Allstate house insurance steadily rose to over triple during the course of 8 years with zero claims. Got the most recent bill and saw it was 300 higher than the previous year. Made a mental note to stop procrastinating and search for something cheaper. But our independent ins agent beat us to that. They found another company with equal coverage for half as much as Allstate. They told me they were recommending alternatives for all their Allstate customers because of the rates.
