lol it’s actually more of a true truck than a 3rd gen Tacoma it has an actual truck engine not a minivan van car motor that the 3rd gen does and it has an actual fully boxed frame unlike the weak flimsy open c channel frame the Tacoma does. A hilux is a real truck a Tacoma is for some soft hands soy boys and yes I own a taco

That's it! Beautiful ride for sure. I'm sure the wife doesn't need a 40th anniversary edition, but it sure does look nice.
I just dread taking care/cleaning another black vehicle. Had a black Civic hatchback.....not a more beautiful color out there when clean, but gets dirty SO quickly.

True, I swore I'd never have another black vehicle again until I saw this one. It's amazing the looks we get from people. I've been stopped and asked why I put The A-Team stripes on it.
I just told the wife not to take it thru the car wash.

I finally convinced my wife to ditch her 2013 CR-V with 130k miles - it was like the energizer bunny. There was nothing mechanically wrong with that car but I was just tired of it (I drove it on long trips) and wanted her to have something with newer safety technology ie the nanny stuff. I finally talked her into an Outback (I lifted it 2" and put on KO2s) that we can take on the beach. She complained at first because she was not used to the new car but now she really likes it.

My wife has a Forester as well. But hey, it's made in Japan so it must be better than my Tacoma (even though it's had more problems).

^^^^ This! We went through it with the 2014 Forester and she was happy to jump in with this stupid 2022 that has even more useless junk slapped on it. The only redeeming quality is that it looks slightly better.

wait so the argument here is the 4runner is better because it has a heated windshield? Ummmm. I live in Hawaii so not sure what I'd do with that option? Cook an egg? It's not better because it doesn't come in manual.

I saw a super cherry stock 454SS yesterday. Those trucks are so underrated.

I can't imagine thinking a 4.0 V6 is any more a "truck engine" than a 3.5, that is pro-level coping. The frame is a reasonable callout however.

Hey I've got one of those too, 48k original miles. It's my garage queen/car show/Sunday cruiser.

In my case that's for sure lol we only have the base sr5 model , 2017, but Id say a country girl or farm girls station wagon. my wife used to have a long commute to work so we needed a safe reliable vehicle for her that could handle Alberta winters. was never intended to be and off roader . its a more luxurious for sure but still prefer my 2007 tacoma to drive.

I looked at the 4Runners before moving on to the Tacomas. With the station wagon I wouldn’t need a shell like I do for the little pickup. The bed on the taco gave me more room for what I need to carry. Sometimes I carry stuff back there, like gas, that I don’t want in the cab. My brother bought a certified used taco. He noticed a couple things that needed to be fixed and the dealer agreed to fix them. The main thing was the tailgate didn’t operate properly. He dropped it off to be repaired and they couldn’t get it fixed properly. Apparently it had been in an accident that wasn’t disclosed. He made the buy it back for the price he paid for it. He still is out some money for a couple upgrades he did to it. The taco came with cheap street tires that he replaced with some Goodyear wrangler AT’s that are triple peak rated. He blacked out the lettering and also had the windows tinted. He didn’t trust the certified used tacos and came home with a brand new 4Runner station wagon. The 4r is a little better equipped than the taco was. I don’t care for leather interiors, but he’s happy with it and that’s all that matters for him.

Has lower end torque. Also Toyota uses the 4.0 in land cruisers globally they don’t use the 3.5 in any Land Cruiser I know of. Of course I say this all tongue in cheek the 3rd gen taco is a fine truck I’ve owned one it was good
