I got my 2011 TRD Offroad crew cab back in april. My brother just picked up a 2011 Frontier crew cab 3 weeks ago. He didn't get the Nismo edition but he did get the 4x4 v6. Both are very close. The Tacoma does have better room in the back for the crew cab. The Frontier has the fully boxed frame and you can tell when you ride in it. Both have great power. Can't go wrong with either one. Now if he would only take up my offer to race!

I have the Tacoma and my brother has the Froniter. I agree, both are great trucks, cant go wrong with either one. But the taco just looks better and has a more comfortable interior, and well, just better :D

toyota longevity is generally better... mechanically speaking, especially after ~100K miles...

Another reason I went with Toyota. That and with the right mods it looks like a beast!

Both are great vehicles (I had a 2005 Xterra Off-Road 4x4 before the Taco) and he won't go wrong with either. Both have good resale, good power, and are very reliable. The main difference to me is the rear seats. If you need to have people spend significant amounts in the back seats the Taco is the way to go. Actually, if you need to have people in the backseat a lot don't get a mid-sized pickup.

I am not a "lift" fan but I'd have to at least level out a Frontier...even the 4X4 and/or Nismos just sit way too low.

My grandfather has a 2005 frontier fully loaded and it's pretty nice if i dont say so, i've never ridden in the back but i did have to drive it for awhile and it felt pretty good. I still like my 2005 taco better though

    Im bias, yes. :D

My buddy has a 2008 NISMO Frontier and it's a really nice truck. I looked at Frontiers before settling on my Tacoma, so in the end it gives my buddy and I to argue about.

When I was truck shopping I test drove a Frontier. The Tacoma feels like Toyota put more time and energy into developing the truck than Nissan did with the Frontier.

I had bad luck with Nissan. Bought a new Titan and the brakes went to crap almost immediately (brake judder covered under warantee). The axle seals started leaking about the time I traded it for an Altima.

The Altima had a very small coolant leak since day one, could smell it when the heater was on. They pressure checked it twice and said there was no leak. I asked why it smelled like pancake syrup every time my heater was on and they just gave me the deer in the headlights look. Brakes sucked too.

Eventually I traded it for my Tacoma, zero issues so far and I am very pleased with the quality. I test drove a Frontier and it seemed OK but I just couldn't take any more chances. No more Nissans for me.

I drove both and bought the Tacoma PreRunner 4x2 Double Cab in 4 cylinder because I drive 70 miles roundtrip everyday and needed the better fuel economy. 4 mpg makes a big difference when you drive 25K miles per year. I also got the Double Cab because I have 2 kids; just not enough room in an Access Cab for children, and it's a lot safer. Although the Tacoma is clearly underpowered for maintaining speeds up hills, I'm happy with the truck overall. Gas prices are only going to get higher over time; so, it's a compromise worth making.
