Somebody needs to make a hilux style grille for the taco where the shape fits the opening between the lights & bumper & hood without the little triangle extra pieces we have.

+85 on all the turbo diesel solid axle boxed frame yesteryear body lines bring them here comments too.

Back in 79-81 we did have the 22L 2.4 diesel motor in our "hi lux's" or just gen 1 trucks or whatever. I don't think it came turboed or in a 4wd tho. The cab off my "82" in my gallery actually had a diesel in it at the junk yard. Had to cut tranny tunnel to fit the gas tranny stick. Tunnel was lower profile than the gas tunnel. Everything else fit from my cab to that one. Swapped to get rid of removable hard top convertible cab & go back to stock uncut cab(xcept for stick shift plate)

Importing one is almost out of the question since by the time you get it legal for the road here it is almost not even worth it. My plan is slightly different. Take the new D4D diesel and drivetrain then transplant it into the 05. That is after the axle transplant.:D

You mean like this one! http://www.jdmparts.ca/proddetail.php?prod=02245

This is from a BC website, I'm not sure what the import laws in the US are.

Isn't there a pub about 100ft down from that spot... Drank all night at the pub after we walked off the old course at about 9:45pm one June night.

I say they put the Hilux insides into the Tacoma and call it an even drawl. I voted Hilux due to the diesel but yea.. I looooove the Taco's looks over the Hilux
