Dude with a 2018 Ridgeline AWD bought my travel trailer today. That Ridgeline has a stout rear suspension, dropped only about 2 inches hooking up the trailer, trailer is about 420lbs tongue weight, I was impressed.

7-pin with Class IV hitch, pre-wired for a brake controller, 5k tow capacity, transmission cooler, not bad. My Tacomas, Tundra, 4Runners, they would drop 4 inches hooking up that trailer without rear suspension enhancements.

Why doesn’t my Tacoma drop 4 inches when I hook up my trailer?

Only 2 inches until it hits the bumpstops? Don't know for sure, depends on the trailer tongue weight, etc. Tacomas are well-known to have very weak stock rear leafs.

It's funny because most of the tacoma owners here would have been better suited for a ridgeline.

Unfortunately it literally looks like a minivan with the back chopped off.

Yup, the look of it made me almost immediately not consider it. Plus, they are pretty expensive when you get 4x4!

One offers a manual transmission, the other is a van with a box tacked to the back.

Yep, styling isn’t screaming macho. But functionality is there. I’ll say, if I didn’t live out west, where so much more outdoor and wheeling opportunities are abundant, I could see myself driving one of those. Great for home projects, biking/skiing, and annual landscape duties. Car-like ride with the utility of a truck bed. Modern day El Camino with 4wd and 2 more doors.

Ridgeline is like the subaru Baja a car with a truck bed. But the baja is more bad ass off road.

Honda sells what most buyers need not so much of what they might want.
