    Yup. It’s the easiest way to make a locomotive go.
    Some are also diesel / electric that can run on electrified lines or not.

    And some are entirely electric.


    Fun fact, the most powerful rail locomotives in service today are fully electric.

    All I could find is “significantly lighter” and “2 tons less” on a commercial vehicle that they don’t disclose the weight of.

    This is basic but the heaviest part is the aluminum diffusers. The membranes are thin and light.

    Also very old news. This means that they are selling product with higher margin which given that they are a new company seems smart. Also, streamlining manufacturing with less options is a good decision.
