The satellite antenna on the carrier is an indicator that they must operate in a desolate area. It's probably not a bad idea to carry a generator in the bed of your Rivian if you drive in or thru an area that you might carry extra fuel.

I still trying to figure out the R1T's intended purpose. Compared to other trucks that people use to get around, ok it does that, you can tow with it. Compared to a conventional truck, what else does it do? Not saying it's worse than any other truck I can't think of a reason why I would choose it over any other truck, other than I want a Rivian, and that's as good a reason as any.

Yesterday at the Tesla chargers there was lines of Teslas waiting to get a space to plug in. The gas pumps are busy at this place are busy, but the Tesla chargers, it was a mad house.

Like any other luxury vehicle, some people like nice stuff. Guess you could ask, why do luxury trucks even exist at all? (No matter the propulsion) The market demands it. Much harder to buy a bare bones work truck these days because of market demands. Majority of trucks today haul more golf clubs than they do gravel.

Gotta say though, the trickle down tech to the poverty models is nice.

Yeah that's as good a reason as any. Good point why do luxury trucks exist to begin with? Yes there is a market for them.

I was looking at both a 22 F-250 6.2 6spd regular cab the only options were 4x4 rear locker and cab lights and fog lights, and a 23 F-150 RC only options it had was 4x4 2.7 eb and spray in bed liner those were some basic trucks, but almost every dealer has a Raptor or two on their lot. The lower trims usually sell when people are buying.

I see so many high trim and 6 inch or even 9 inch lifted 3/4 and 1 ton trucks with oversized wheels and low profile tires used as daily drivers. Totally limiting their capability, but looking good and showing the world they have money to burn. Seems to be plenty of demand for luxury stuff in all truck segments.

I do like the Rivian, however for that price, much rather have a 1 Ton diesel that you can actually tow/haul something and have a decent range so you don’t have to stop too often while traveling. Could build out a F350 XL for under $70K. Which is still a bit eye watering for a “base model” truck with a few options.

We are close to retirement, so I tend to be looking at a full time travel vehicle. EVs just aren’t there yet, one day they will though.

Although I would prefer a gas super duty less operating costs, I would also rather have a diesel plus they cost more. I couldn't justify the need for an HD. I'm not towing anything and don't need the pay load.

With this particular test not driving into a stationary object would yeild a better result. Why no overlap crash tests with two vehicles launched head on into each other?

Looking at TTs, the inTech OVR to be exact. https://intech.com/rv/models/ovr/adventure/ While a 1/2 Ton could probably work, I like a bit of overkill when it comes to towing. The Silverado 1500 diesel, would do…for the price might as well step up to a 1 Ton.

That's a nice trailer, yeah 1 ton for sure. The 23 Super Duty you can opt for offroad package or what ever it's call on the XL.

Half ton could do it, not much wiggle room once it is all loaded up wet. With a 1 Ton would barely noticed it is back there.

Think it is simply called “Off Road Package”. Only $1000 option which includes a locking rear diff. Must have in a 1 Ton, those things can get stuck on wet grass.

Saw an R1S up close today. It really is very nice. Bigger than I thought it would be. <'That's What She Said'

I always thinks it’s smaller than what I expected. Talking about the R1S still…
