Other than just making shit up, I’d love to know how you determined that given that there is at least one unknown company in there.

does Tesla provide the trailers too ? :notsure:

wouldn't trucking companies just need a car carrier trailer ?

Sure if the driver wants to lose money, it's much more efficient to move 9 cars at a time instead of 6. What does a Tesla weigh? How much does a the trailer weigh? How far can a Tesla semi move a car trailer loaded with 6 model 3s? Does Tesla offer a PTO on their semi to power the trailer hydrualics?

I recall the Tesla semi is making 100 mile runs at Pepsi moving beverages. That probably isn't going to cut it for the auto transport industry. Right now it's multi billion dollar companies playing around with electric semis. I wouldn't expect an independent owner operator to consider buying an electric truck as an option.

Along with some youtubers lol, how many of those listed companies operate carriers? JB Hunt operates haulers, but they aren't buying Tesla semis for that.

There are other manufacturers out there developing electric trucks. They will probably have more practical soloutions for the trucking industry than Tesla.

None of that will matter until there is a publicly available Tesla Megacharger network.

Tesla semi isn't a viable option right now.

I'm going out on a limb here and saying there are no owner / operator , 1 rig companies ordering Tesla semis at this stage

Probably not. Giving Tesla $20k for the opportunity to purchase a truck when ever they get around to building it, isn't going to cut it for an owner operator. I wonder if Tesla plans on any additional cab configurations to accommodate different uses?

Wouldn’t you need longer range before you consider a sleeper cab or any other configuration than a day cab?

Isn't the Tesla a sleeper cab? Range isn't where it needs to be for short hauls.

Are you thinking that the driver can sleep in the center driver seat while “driving”? 500 miles sounds like it would be enough for short hauls. What should it be for short hauls?

Is the Tesla Semi actually in use on the road? That thing hit the market before the Cyber truck?

Have you seen the size of the cab? There's plenty of room behind the driver seat is it wasted space?

There are plenty of truck routes that cover over 500 miles in a single shift where the driver operates a day cab and is home at every shift.

The battery electric truck no matter who manufactures is isn't always going to the same range on every load every day of the week.

Nobody knows what the Tesla is capable of when it comes to payload and range. That R&D is being done at Pepsi. You can't go by what Tesla claims they haven't done the research.

Jerry Rig's R1T after 10k miles. His estimate of when the truck becomes carbon neutral is at about 3 years also on par with Engineering Explained's estimate.
