Butt dyno says it is faster because it has a pretty flat torque curve and hits hard real low in the rpm range. I know, I had a Taurus SHO with the 3.5 before the Tacoma and that car flew.

As if anyone is under the illusion that a Tacoma is anywhere capable as a stock rubicon, much less one that’s modified.

I mean if you're gonna make a fair comparison at least get a pro or a loaded OR and maybe a wrangler of similar price point, IMO.

Tacoma 3rd gen is an amazing truck as much as people bash it.

I don't get why people bash the big 3 so much tbh. My father has owned Fords all his life and the biggest repair he's had to do is a u-joint, I'd hardly call anything he has had unreliable. He also works in excavation and beats the crap out of his trucks.

I've had my Taco for almost two years and the only thing that consistently annoys me about it is it's inability to get out of it's own way when pulling out from a stop. The truck is not a slug at all - except where it counts - when I'm trying to pull out onto heavy traffic from a dead stop and have to wait for it to get to 2k rpms before it will do ANYTHING. Clutch drops aside - there is no solution without a re-gear so I just grind my teeth whenever I'm in dense traffic.

Tundra does have a (slight) advantage on depreciation. Although I will say when I sold my F150, I didn't lose that much. I could've gotten maybe 5% more if I had a Tundra. But performance, MPG, rear seat room, aesthetics, etc. were all worth it. Every penny.

In terms of looks. I think Tundra made to look like a bigger, slightly bullkier Tacoma would be awesome. Would like to see a Manual transmission option aswell.

I agree. Im still not a fan of the 3rd gen taco front end, but it starts looking good being next to the tundra for awhile

Toyota didn't have to stop selling cars like Ford.
Wonder why with all the Ford fan boys ?
    Because Toyota makes better vehicles.

the widespread issues with tacomas and frames rusting out from under them is precisely why your argument is invalid

No but they did stop producing them in favor of Tacomas and Tundras.

I'm not a fanboy of either brand but it is unfortunate that so many people are because you are missing out on good products.

Had a Tundra with a 5.7 before my Tacoma. No way the Tacoma is anywhere near as quick. The guy driving the Tundra is clearly an idiot.

    Am I a Toyota fanboi?

Probably to an extent. I can say it is NOT unwarranted. The absolute MOST reliable vehicles I have driven and owned are/were Toyota.
Drive the hell out of a '74 Chevy truck in college. It only stranded me a few times in the 4 or 5 years I drove it. Failed fuel pump, blown engine, dead TC, 3 starters, alternator, 2 batteries.
Never owned a Ford truck, driven many. Did not like the interior or the rattling.. most everything.
Nissan was reliable power train wise. Almost as much wind noise as a bike and EVERYTHING rattled.

I have had many vehicles in my life. by far the funnest to drive and the butt-assed-ugliest was a Fiat X-19.

Hands down, no vehicle (with 4 wheels) I have owned and been been more solid and reliable than any Toyota I have owned.
I purposely excluded bikes as all 3 of the Hondas were "bullet proof". Other bikes had few issues beyond PM's but not many.

I would say Toyota has earned my fandom. The Tundra definitely needs a full update.
