I’d like a factory option for a front locker...

I would have taken it if it was an option. You can never have too much capability available off-road

Def would get it. I'd rather have the front locker than the mts/CC. Way better locked up front, especially in a truck where the ass is light. No matter what Nanny offroading wizardry Toyota uses with their 4wd system, not gonna beat a locker.

I had a Jeep LJ with front and rear lockers and could count on one finger (guess which one) the number of times I actually needed the gucci gear in the front. In my humble opinion, choosing the right line and using common sense are more important than any number of lockers...that and a good set of Maxtrax. :)

If you need a front locker, odds are you’re trying to do something you shouldn’t be doing in your truck

Eh not the most sound logic. Some could say that about rear lockers.

Being locked up front / rear makes for easier off roading as now you've got 100% traction at all (4) tires

My go to favorite set up on my jeep Rock Crawlers was Detroit lockers front and rear . You could go anywhere off road without fear of being stuck

Also a locker gives you 100% traction to ea wheel

When I was with CA4WDC and doing safety inspection for runs requiring lockers we did this and it showed the effectiveness of lockers over a LSD

To test for locked rear axle we used a floor Jack . We lifted on rear wheel off the ground then had the driver of the jeep start his vehicle and attempt to pull forward . With a locker the wheel in the air was recieving power ( turning) as was the tire on the ground and it easily moved forward

Now same scenario with a jeep with lsd the tire in the air was recieving power ( turning) but the tire on the ground was not and would pull the vehicle forward

I bet anyone here on TW if they did the floor Jack test with their LSD rear and notice that their truck won't move forward under it's own power they will want a locker

When i had my jeep a front locker was nice. My Tacoma is set up for milder trails and exploring so the rear locker, 4x4 and a-trac are more than enough traction aid for me.

That said if a front locker was a factory option i would have to get it just because.
