Not minimizing the ZR2's ease on these trails, but was the Tacoma even using MTS or crawl? I have had better luck with my computer aids than he did

Only thing about a limited slip axle is the clutch pack in the diff deteriorates over time which decreases its effectiveness . With a locker there's no loss of performance

Considering the Pro cost $60G in Canada before tax it should be a standard feature.
If it was offered when I was buying my next truck I'd get it. Kind of thing that you don't need often but when do need it you appreciate it.

Didn't know that the zr2 can lock the rear in 2wd, and come with sliders.

The Toyota Auto-LSD system is not a true mechanical limited slip, it just uses the brakes to clamp the spinning wheel and send power to the wheel with traction. It works very well, but there is a delay, as slip needs to be detected by the computer 1st. You can feel it start working. The wheel starts spinning, then the brakes apply to the offending wheel and the truck starts crawling forward. It isn’t seamless like a true LSD.

I'd rather have a locker than MTS and crawl control. The mts was unable to get me up a few areas that the rear locker had no problem with.

However, can attest, lockers and IFS tend to blow shit up. But I ran a lunchbox, so take that with a grain of salt I guess

It should have it. Zr2 is superior off road because of it, especiallywith the diesel.

With that said 99% of owners don't need it or would-be need to use it.

I dont get why the prerunner TRD off road can lock in 2wd (obviously since its only 2wd) but us 4x4 cant...

Not sure I understand some of this. I installed an ARB front locker because that's where the weight is, not in the rear. A rear locker is fine in most situations and will get you out of most. With that said, careful use of a front locker can get you to places and out of places the stock with crawl control alone will not. And adding a front locker doesn't disable CC, so you can use it for most situations. I have been in some where just that having a few seconds of a locked front pair does help. People blow them up because they aren't super careful on the throttle. I had one in my '09 with a supercharger and never blew it up in use.

what good is a front locker on a truck that deploys it's airbags on bumpy fire roads?

Who uses a front locker at speeds where this would matter in this truck? And oddly, I drive on bumpy fire roads all the time and my air bags have never deployed. I also only use my front locker when its needed and engage the throttle so it doesn't blow up my axles (i.e. very slowly).

I'm referring/making fun of the ZR2 and it's airbag issues, not the Tacoma

The tacoma in the the video did not have a working mts so it had only the open front end, if it had mts it would have climed that hill a lot easier, it wasn't a fair comparison
