I always feel bad when I miss a wave. There's so many assholes around, it's good to encourage nice people.

    This.

I usually only wave if I see a modded Taco (Lift wheels are the min)

If its a stock 2nd gen covered in dirt, I may give them a nod but so many people in SoCal drive Tacos, I really dont bother anymore.

Man, you must completely hate social interaction. Does it scare you to talk to people in person too? Haha jk jk. Can't believe someone would sell their vehicle just because they would get waved at though

Cool man we drive the same truck make and model we don't need wave at each other to recognize that. Now if you wave at me cause I let you in on a yield or lane change I'm all for that cause I would do the same.

Living in Los Angeles, waving at someone is a good way to either get flipped off or get a gun pulled on you. Drivers out here are constantly on the verge of maniacal road rage. It's just the way of life.

No joke, someone in the Santa Clarita Valley (LA county) just got shot at yesterday because her windshield washer fluid got on another dude's car. Luckily, no one was killed.

    I need to move.

the 98 TJ was also a piece of shit. it was an easy decision...

but ya, i'm that asshole looking to just drive and not become friends with everyone. public transit is better for that. $2.00 and its a fucking party. you can also be drunk and piss in a corner.

I don't do a Taco wave. If I did I'd never have my hands on the wheel because you can't swing a cat without hitting one around here. Anyway, I have a theory about "the (insert car here) wave" and the Tacoma doesn't fit the profile. The "wave" is really only ubiquitous in vehicles where most of the general public and non-car people can't understand why you would own one, often because of the perception of the stupidity, lack of comfort, or reliability of the vehicle. The "wave" is a tacit understanding of the perceived slight between owners of similar vehicles, and not always limited to vehicles of the same make. Say I'm driving along in a brand new C7 Vette and I see another one coming toward me, the other driver and I see one another, recognize that we are both seen from the outside as white guys in our 60's with "penis troubles" and a comfortable but not truly ostentatious amount of wealth. Sometimes it's about the fact that the car we both love is just seen as a total piece by everyone else. Regardless of what the reality of our situation is we feel a kinship around this perceived slight. Same thing with small roadsters, it's kind of a "Hey buddy you bought an impractical chick car too" kinda thing. Jeep Wranglers: "Roads also come in not pavement? We're just suckers for a shitty loud ride" Dodge Neon SRT-4: "Sorry about you're Neon being a Neon" Italian Exotic: "Daddy money" Jacked up mall crawler: "Sorry about your penis" PT Cruiser/HHR: Actually, I've got nothing for this. There's no "percieved slight" they were wrong for buying i tin the first place and they remain in the wrong to this day.

The thing is, there's no large misconception among non-car people around a Tacoma (or a Dodge Caravan, or a Ford Fusion, or a Subaru Outback, etc). Exceptions of course for vehicles modified far enough to be noticeable by those same people, so there's no universal kinship. That doesn't mean that kinship doesn't exist within the "normal car" communities, but in my experience it's often a one way street. For example, the 2nd gen Taco bro dozer I see 2-3x a week on my way into town. I get a "sweet truck" shaka every time I see him, but I feel no connection going the other way because due to no change whatsoever in the way I drive, when I see him and I'm driving my wife's Prius instead of a shaka I get to listen to him exercise his horn while tailgating. Seriously, F that guy.
