After owning my Tacoma for over a year its mid-size limitations have become a problem a few times. Not saying mines going anywhere soon, Ill have it for several more years hopefully but I'm wondering who else went from a full size to mid size and which one you will have next. I'm not knocking the Tacoma, I love mine as much as I did my last truck (98 Z71 ext. Cab) and to be honest its as, if not more than capable than it but I doubt Ill ever own a Tacoma again. Small bed, cramped cab for larger people, less towing etc.. and I use it as a truck a lot. Hopefully the next truck I will be driving will be a Tundra.

I've had 4 Toyota trucks. 2 pickups, and 2 tacomas. Personally I wouldnt want to go any larger than my dclb. Larger trucks in the mountains is no bueno. For me the Tacoma is a good size. I test drove a tundra and I felt it was too cumbersome.

My next will be a half ton. They are so comfortable for bigger people. I don't have plans of switching any time soon though. If things go how I plan I'll buy some land in the next 10 or so years and retire the taco as my farm beater, and buy a half ton as my DD.

I have my 03 and 08 and prefer the size of the 03, the second gen just seems a tad too large for me and my needs but everyone is different and I can respect that.

I miss my '01. Love the extra power now but yeah, RIP compact trucks.

My truck works great for what I need it for. Occasionally I wish it had more power (when towing) but that can be solved with gearing and a blower when the budget allows. It's size gets me into places that would damage a full size.

Seems backwards. If anything I'd want a full size for a ranch truck and keep something smaller around for a DD.

Why did you buy it in the first place? What was your intended use?

I came from a 1985 Silverado 4x4, and owning my 2011 has been an absolute dream. The Tacoma outperforms the previous truck in every way. More power, more capable, better mileage, more comfortable, and towing is roughly the same as far as limitations. Granted, the other truck was 30 years old but it was immaculate. I have a lot of friends who own rangers, f350's, Silverado 1500's, 2500's, jeeps, and my truck consistently outperforms each and every one (aside from the f350 and 2500 for towing, obviously). The other trucks all have similar or less miles on the clock, but are all in much worse shape and require frequent repairs. Wether we're on a trail, driving out to a hunting spot, messing around on back roads, or at the pump, the Tacoma wins. I will definitely be owning another Tacoma when mine bites the dust.

I am on my last tacoma

I would love a tundra crew cab but the bed is too small

My next truck (if I buy a Toyota) will be tundra double cab 8 feet bed, front bench seat

When I say farm beater I mean more in the sense of how you would use a razr to scoot around the land, use it to pick up excessively messy things, drive it to work on snowy days, and other general beater activities. I won't actually farm, I just like to call it that.

I love my Tacoma and will buy another one when this one gets over the hill. I will never sell my black beauty. It's my daily and it does everything I need to do. I've hauled a pallet of cinter block in the bed @2000 lbs (yes I know that's way to much and don't recommend doing it) but it did it. I've hauled way over what it's rated for and it just keeps going. When it comes time for a new truck I may consider a tundra but I've already owned one and always found myself choosing to drive my Tacoma over the Tundra. Now if only Toyota offered a diesel truck in the states I would be buying one over the Tacoma. If you are a big person I wouldn't recommend a Tacoma it is a mid size truck after all. That's just my .02$

I love my 09 and I'm torn on what I'm going to get next . . . probably within a few years. I love the size of my truck and how easy it is to drive around town. It's super nimble. I'd like the extra room in a 1/2 ton for my son (7 now but he'll be quite a bit bigger by the time I buy a new truck) but I think I'd hate driving one given how big they've become.

I'll probably wind up buying another mid size or an extra cab 1/2 ton. For my current uses, the capabilities of today's mid sized trucks is just fine. They will tow anything I'd buy, and to be honest, I just like driving smaller vehicles. If I had to guess right now, I'd probably go Tacoma or Ranger. I'm really interested in seeing what Ford brings to the mid size game.

I've had three 2nd gens and this will be my last Tacoma. A full size truck for the price and the capabilities is a better buy to me. But that's just my opinion.

I love the Tacoma but it certainly sometimes gets in the way of my habit of overpacking. So just as soon as my garage get bigger I'll be getting a bigger truck.

Big trucks + mountains = nope

Tacoma > mid size trucks > full size trucks

If I was a bachelor I'd get another taco...

However, now that I have a wife and three daughters, I think the next vehicle I buy will be a Crewmax Tundra.
