    Oh I got it.

I wonder which one is stronger. Or will last longer. Was there a settlement on Ridgelines about their rust problem?

"Built jointly by Honda Performance Development, the North American motorsports arm of American Honda, and the Proctor Racing Group, the tube-frame Unlimited Class 2 off-road Ridgeline Baja Race Truck made its competition debut in November, 2015, with another class victory in the Baja 1000."

You mean they didn't take a Ridgeline off the showroom floor and race it?

    All the time!!!
i waited till the 2016's came out, I was going to buy one. Then I saw and drove my first one, and went to looking for the 2015 that I wanted I couldn't take what they had done and all the new, and unproven stuff scared me away fast! And Sorry but Toyota pored a bucket of ugly all over the front end.

Just like you can't take a Toyota Tacoma off the show room floor and race it, or put half yard of dirt in it , or drive it where they use salt, or not have a squeaky interior, or leaf springs that don't break or flatten, or.....there's a long list. But you get it. You are on the forums. O wonder if the ridge line needs bed stiffeners. Haha. A truck that needs bed stiffeners. Can You imagine??

Ridgeline has shit ground clearance. I'm sure they are great cars though.

My neighbor has an 83 Toyota 4x4 pickup with the great 7 foot bed. How much do you want to bet, that his truck will still be on the road 34 years from now, while my 16 will be in the crusher?

My truck won't even be around in 10 years, at least not without an unintentional sunroof from all the rust. Even the office of the CEO of NA Toyota admits it's "unacceptable", but won't stand behind their product. Toyota Quality is a memory and the Tacoma is coasting on goodwill from previous generations of the truck.

I'm completely with the OP here. I wish I had a fullsize chevy. I test drove a 1500 with the 5.3L and really like it compared to the taco. It's much more comfortable inside, it handles a slightly bigger load both in the bed and on a trailer. It rides better, gets about the same MPG... I just don't see much of a reason to keep the truck other than the fact that I don't owe much on it and I don't want another payment.

I can't imagine the repair cost on that 10 speed auto. Ford doesn't have a good track record when it comes to transmissions. I'd seriously consider getting an extended powertrain warranty if I were you.

Not sure but leaning towards either a Tundra or Honda Ridgeline maybe in 10 years.

I drank the Eco-Boost Kool Aid in July. Just sent my Taco down the road at Carmax today. I was doing the luke-warm sales effort with a sign in the window at work and in front of my house, driving around--. Got a couple of calls. $16.5--silence. $16--silence. Maybe $15? Silence. Took a look at some CL listings and adjusted my asking and went back to the first guy at $13k. Silence. Carmax: $13500.

Anyway, I wanted to buy a new Taco, Access Cab, V6, 6 speed manual (over the wife's objections) 4x4. Check inventory for yourself. They just weren't there. Was ready to buy a Nissan Pro x4. Wife made me drive the F150, and asked me if I was crazy. Anyway, solidly in Ford land with an extended warranty and getting about .8 to 1 mpg less than the Taco. (2.7 5 speed MT vs 2.7 twin hairdryer 6 speed auto)

I'll be checking back if they every put a motor in it that doesn't downshift 3 gears at the touch of the throttle.....

I have a 13 sport dclb with 20k miles. It's going to last forever. I had an itch to trade it in for an off-road but I'm not convinced with the new engine/transmission, I know what I have with the 4.0

The zr2 is interesting but at this point I'm waiting to see what the ranger brings. Fingers crossed for the 2.7 ecoboost

I'm on my 3rd Taco, and hope to test the limits of it's longevity. The last one, a '13 DCSB TRD Sport 4x4, had me swearing off buying another Toyota product, ever. Driveline vibration issues that Toyota finally declared were "a normal characteristic of the truck" after accepting they were abnormal and applying several warranty repairs. My dad went and bought a '15 DCSB TRD OR 4x4, and just recently decided he had to have a new Ridgeline (he's 85) so offered to use my '13 for a trade in and give me the '15 in the deal. I hate to admit it, but the San Antonio-made '13 wasn't near the truck that the Mexico-made '15 is. The '15 is smoother, tighter, and actually gets better fuel mileage (by 1-2 mpg, last tank 17.2 mpg city) than the '13 did. At 29.5k miles I just put stock size Michelin LTX AT2's on it that I expect to see it past 100k miles (my daily commute is just 10 miles). We'll see what the new truck landscape is like, hopefully well over 10 years from now. Until then, the '15 does all the hunting, boat trailer pulling, and general light duty truck stuff I need it to. And, it fits great in the garage next to the wife's new '17 Camry XSE (over 35mpg hwy!). I guess the '15 Taco has restored some of my faith in Toyota, although I still think that their current products don't seem to rise to the quality levels of some of their older vehicles.

To learn. All this great info was found on this site. Frames, leaf springs, weak beds, noisy interiors, drive line vibration ......drum rear brakes lol!!!! Interior switches not working, interior lights burning out.....you could make a long list with just posted on the first page. I am just here to help another unsuspecting buyer from making a mistake we all made.

I have a 15 TRD Sport, so I don't plan on having to replace for awhile. It is my first Tacoma. I wanted to go with the proven 2nd gen product.

I think they will hammer out any issues with the 3rd gen eventually. That being said, I feel that Toyota wants too much money for them. I feel that I may as well get true half-ton truck performance for almost $40k.

I am satisfied with my truck. I don't use it as a work truck, just being able to move the occasional appliance or piece of furniture is all I need. I wish it was a little smaller, but there is no such thing as a true compact truck nowadays.
