All were above 150psi I stopped there because I thought compression shouldn't be an issue.

What wires at the ecu have to have ground? That way I can check continuity and voltage at the ecu.

I don't have a wiring diagram for your year. You do have all the air intake tube and MAF hooked up when trying to start? What did you find on the spark?

I checked for spark and I think it's not getting spark! How can I test the distributor and igniter?

I made a huge sad discovery! So my old crankshaft pulley had broken loose and scraped up my oil pump housing. Ordered a new one on eBay 20$. I stuck a thin plastic straw in cylinder 1 to indicate when the piston is moving up or down. I turned the engine by hand to line up the pulley to 0 or top dead center and guess what! The number 1 piston still wasn't at top dead center!

get it to tdc and make a mark. That way you'll at least get timing correct. but you need to get another pulley.

Glad you are getting it figured out!

I'll have to admit I do feel better that I'd asked this...........

    And commented this............

'cause that's kinda where you are. I was beginning to think I was losing basic diagnosis ability.

Point is, it's always good to recheck what you think you had right to begin with. Mostly because it often (for me anyway) is where the root cause of the problem is.

    You'll have it running soon!

I am going to buy a new pulley and make sure it is marked properly. Now I need to remove my distributor, timing chain tensioner, valve cover, and cam sprocket. Set everything in time and conduct another compression test to make sure I don't have bent valves. Hopefully it goes well if not over 1,000$ down the drain all because of a crankshaft pulley.

Thanks to everyone for all of the help I really appreciate it!! This forum is awesome. I hope to get my truck up and running soon to hit the trails! Next on my list is bucket seats out of a 4Runner and my passenger locking hub does not lock and I think the bearing needs replacing because the axle has play.

This is my first full rebuild. I've done about 9 sets of head gaskets on the old 3.0 v6 3vze and they ran perfectly. I've learned a lot and on my next rebuild I'll make sure to double check everything.
