    All right then.
We've settled that Bryan likes his girls to be at least 6, and Alex likes his to be 13.

Sounds like it's time for a new topic.
Anybody got their deer yet this season?

Brian didn't specify how high they could count, so I think his should be changed to at least 3

Did you ever pick up that .308 that you were talking about the other day?

FWIW, I handled a Ruger American chambered in 308 at Kittery Trading Post the other day. Very nicely put together gun. The action on it was buttery smooth, especially for a gun that hadn't been cleaned and oiled yet. The safety engaged and disengaged positively, and the magazine clicked into and out of place easily and securely. The overall fit and finish were good, but if it was me I'd want to strip it down to a bare stock and take a file and some sandpaper to it to round over a few of the edges. Some of them are very close to 'sharp'

    Huh?
This one was $389 for an all-weather, marked down from $449...
Cabela's regularly has them for around $400-450.

Or are you thinking of the Scoped Ruger/Redfield combos?

Yeah the combo is what I sell. My price for those out the door is 542.00 for the scoped combo.

I see. I was looking at just the blank rifle.

So you sell them; what's your opinion on the Americans and what have you heard for feedback?
I'm considering picking one up in 30-06 at some point, although I'm also considering getting one in .308 and having the local gunsmith put a set of irons on it.

They are really nice rifles for the beginner to intermediate shooter/hunter. Like stated above the bolt is smooth as fuck! Really nice for a all in one package. I know a couple guys that have them and love them. With that being said. Im not a fan of the grip. Its a little to small for my liking. I went to the Remington 783 in a 30-06. You cant go wrong with either round right now. The 308 I been noticing more people going to lately. Its really all we need up here. We wont be taking 600+ yard shots. Usually max is 2-300 which a 308 will do all day no problem.

Yeah, I couldn't believe how smooth the bolt was for a brand new unoiled gun sitting on the shelf in the store.
I've got smaller hands, so the grip actually fit me about perfectly, haha!
I will likely go with the 308. It's a less expensive round to shoot than the '06, and I've already got a Remington 700 in 7mm Rem Mag for when I really want to reach way out and touch something.

Nice. Then a 308 american would be perfect for your needs. I say go for it then
