Yup. When I think of something that can fly through a forest on a road that barley there and then blast through a stream leaving 20 ft rooster tails... Or flying over a giant sand dune in the dessert and catching air for 40 yards... That's exactly what I think of. Kia.

I actually had one also. A 66' 2-door Monza with the 2-speed powerslide tranny. It actually (Regardless what the 'critics' said) handled quite well.
I had 60-series radials on it and the trick back then was to put 4 bags of cement up front under the hood. the nickname for them back then was 'The Poor Man's Porsche' .. LOL

So much garbage press out there,I can remember when JD Powers awarded the Renault Alliance the car of the year award....
That car disappeared when salt hit it.
    Funny stuff.

That Corvair was kicking ass going up the river for 20 miles. I was laughing so hard I spit my beer all over the desk.

I think that Corvair was famous for engine fires if I remember right.

On the flip side, I don’t think I would trust Motor Trend or Car and Driver to tell me what is a good or bad restaurant or hotel.

Not sure ..they did tend to overheat on hot summers with that air cooled engine in the rear. I think the demise might have been Ralph Naders false “unsafe at any speed claim” of poor handling, NHTSA found his claims false.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_Corvair#:~:text=The name "Corvair" originated as,referenced the engine's cooling system.
The corvair did handle very well in snow with the weight of the engine in the rear.

On an unrelated note, years ago I drove through east saint louis, what a hell-hole. That’s coming from 10 years as a firemen in Waterbury ct, my dad did 36 years in Bridgeport and my uncle 25 in newburgh, so I’m used to poor areas. Very eye opening and sad.
