    Sub,

Here's my opinion. Your truck is worth good money. I would get it fixed by a reputable repair shop so that it's warrantied for the life of the vehicle and so that it's done right. It sucks that the guy didn't have insurance but I feel you should still get it fixed correctly.

As a fellow Utahn (with teenage drivers) that has had his share of vehicle repairs of my 36 years of driving, I have seen many repair shops. I do not have any ties with any except the quality of repair. Go check get a quote from Wasatch Auto Repair in SLC. They do all the body work for Steve Harris Imports (Ferrari, Porsche, Maserati, Lotus). The owner's main vehicle is a red Gen 1 Tacoma that you ought to see to believe - WOW! He loves Tacoma's and treats them "extra" special.

They are the same price as LHM, Malone, etc. and they've been in business for decades. I had my 2010 hit in the back at 2500 miles and the repair to the bumper and left fender was perfect. My truck is black and would show any unevenness. There is zero. No over-spray at all. Most important they are Nazi's on using manufacture parts and not cheap Chinese clones.

Good luck and I'm sorry for your situation. Things like this are a casualty of living in society.

I have to disagree here. I carry a 1k deductible too. My truck is paid off so if I hit someone and it is my fault, no biggie, I have the 1k to cover it and it gets fixed. I would rather the gamble of the at fault accident than the guaranteed higher rate forever. Gieco warned me but I made my own decision.

I'd go through my insurance if I were you. Ultimately, it's up to you, and hopefully this guy takes care of things, but I'd personally play it safe and just use my insurance. $1,000 isn't worth the potential headaches.

Maybe for your situation it might be fine.. but in reality I would say the majority of most drivers don't have $1,000 of disposable cash. Some people live paycheck to paycheck you know...

Not your problem. Unless he was your best bud, stick it to him. Believe me due to the amount of damage this isn't the time to learn a lesson.

"I have a 1,000.00 deduct because my insurance was running me 340/mo, now it's down to 240/mo"...............damn! That's allot of coin for insurance. Whats higher? Your insurance payment or the truck payment? Or should I even ask?........

A $1,000 deductible is a smart choice for most drivers who can afford the $1,000 deductible when needed.
