It's a big deal regardless of who does it. It's just that usually it's hard to know who did it.

here's some random unknown family that spray painted some rocks on a native american site. They found out who it was. Fame has nothing to do with it.

You need to take a long hard look at the weapons used by trail closure groups to shut us out. I have spent hundreds of hours in legal proceedings fighting these exact things. It's a huge deal and social pressure like you see here is exactly the way to stop it.

Its the principle of the actions that is under scrutiny and causing outrage. He should know better, he sets an example for the people who watch his content, or follow him.

At the end of the day its not about the "how" but the "what" & and the "why".

    It is a big deal.

    I respectfully disagree.

I take issue with it because if no one does then it becomes acceptable. Once that happens more and more people will do it and at that point, where does it become unacceptable? I don’t like being out and seeing the landscape with someone’s initials, or handle etched into anything. Trees, rocks, sandstone, etc.

Something I heard a while ago that still comes to mind when I see stuff like this. “The standard you walk by becomes the standard you accept.” I for one, am unaccepting of this.

Do you remember the guys that pushed the rock off the cliff... They were little fish
Or the guy who drove around a gate to get to a fishing spot....

    This.

Anything will be used as ammo and put under scrutiny against the off road community. Just like during the government shutdown and some folks cut down trees in the Joshua tree region.

Even something small like defacing a rock adds up. Kind of like littering, even something tiny like just tossing one cigarette is no biggie because it's literally half an inch of trash. Until everyone starts tossing their butts on trailheads and trails and soon they're everwhere. The reason why some folks like to go offroading and outdoors is to experience the great outdoors! Clean great fresh outdoors! Why would you want to offroad amongst trash, graffiti, IG usernames scrawled on rocks, broken glass, rusty nails, rotting couches.

I've offroaded in destroyed and trashed places like that, it's very depressing and they always end up permanently closed, never temporary. Same thing with shooting, once areas get trashed (which they often do) then they are closed permanently.

Conservation is a priority, not an aside.

It's hard to explain ethical obligations to someone who hasn't been around long enough to comprehend.
