So after a year.....how are the lights holding up? Why is pro tunning selling them with an HID mod already built in? I want for my 2010 but am skeered with all the HID feedback.

I love them! Light out put is way better once you tune them. But I returned form Protuninglab since tacomabeast has/had a special that put them at the same price.

Is there any way to keep the low beams on while using the high beams? (not concerned with legality)

Also, has anyone tried using LED H1 bulbs in these?

Update from a question I had posted previously.

I installed Morimoto 2 stroke 2.0's in my low beam projectors last night. Not really a simple plug and play replacement; I had to bend the retainer clips a bit and modify the boot to fit around the LED housing. Wiring the lights was fairly simple and I used shrink wrap to further weather proof the connection.

From what I can tell it looks water tight. I will update in a month or so to let you know how things are holding up.

    Results:
-They are, from what I can tell, about 2x brighter than the halogens that came with my lights.
-The beam pattern look good with a solid cut off line, seems to be a bit fuller than the halogens but still has a distinct bright spot.
-I am very happy with the quality of light output and performance, time will tell if there are any ill effects from this.

I didn't take any before and after photos. Sorry.

I think they really look great on the gen 2, and provide the truck with a nice update. As for the DRLs - I just wired them into the side indicator housing, so they both illuminate together.

Do you have any pictures or steps on how you wired the morimoto 2.0s?

Wiring was very easy. Everything was able to essentially plug and play. Hardest part was bending the clips to properly hold the morimotos in place. Just took some fiddling.

1st pic: morimoto bulb with boot.
2nd pic: morimoto bulb hooked up to provided harness.
3rd pic: original spyder wiring attached to the morimoto harness. They just pushed onto the posts that were in the harness. Shrink wrap was used to further water proof the connection.

Nice, so you do have to cut into the boot. Did you water seal the bulb going into the boot?

Yes, I cut a hole about the size of a nickel in the boot, then stretched the boot over the LED bulb to expose the fan vents. No further waterproofing. My biggest concern is water entering through the fan vents, the boot is pretty snug.

We just had a bit of rain here in so-cal and there isn’t any condensation in the headlight housing. I’ll post if there is any condensation in the future.

Thank you! I've been researching and waiting for someone to do this, especially with the morimoto! Appreciate the information! Gonna order a pair now.

Think you can take a picture of how you got the clip to fit the bulb?
