In my Toyota Extra Care package it states that the 2012 Tacoma 4 cylinder 2TR get the 5K mile oil changes with 0W20 Synthetic Oil. It didn't mention the V6.

I've been bringing mine in, the last at 15,000 miles. They took about 10 minutes this last time! So I checked to make sure and yes they did change the oil and rotate the tires. Don't know about the filter though. I'll mark it this next time.

I also have a 2012 Tacoma Access cab, (4 cylinder) I was traveling when I hit the 5000 mark and I stopped in at the local Toyata dealership and they told me to wait until 10,000. I am now at like 5,600. Anyway, I don't fully trust the dealerships, especially if it is in another state. If I get my oil changed at a regular (not Toyota) oil change place...what brand (synthetic) should I ask for? I'm assuming they don't use the same brand that the dealershoip uses?? Also, will this affect my warrenty if I don't get it done by Toyota? Thanks for any suggestions

I had a lengthy talk with the dealer about this oil change milage. I asked if the Tacoma had synthetic oil, no he says, so I say, why 10,000 miles on dino oil. Should it have synthetic, no he says, and shows me on the oil fill cap, it calls for 5w-30, not 0w-20, yep dino oil. Every 5 k miles just like the little book says.

Depends on what year... All the 2012 2TR Engines use synthetic 0w-20 and states change at 5K interval or six months.
